The samosas are just the way I like them; crispy flaky crust, not doughy or greasy. The fresh homemade salsa is phenomenal.
We have ordered matar paneer, butter chicken, aloo gobi and found those dishes to be delightful. The lady who owns the place is a sincere and very sweet. Her English isn't great but her food does the talking for her! I've been there many times and have gotten to know her over the years. It's wonderful to see someone that comes from a background of many trials and tribulations in life and work hard to achieve their dream - her very own little Indian food joint that serves family recipes.
Best bang for your buck. It seems like eveything was from scratch at an awesome price. Authentic freshly made naan per order and the wraps were huge and delicious, filled with lots of chicken or paneer
Delicious and filling!. This is my favourite place for Indian food in the neighborhood. The food is cheap and filling as the portions are quite big. The lady working there is extremely nice and friendly. The butter chicken has GENEROUS amounts of chicken. And when I mean generous, I mean there's chicken in every bite you take. Definitely a place I will go to often.
Wow!! DELICIOUS food here. Up there with the best I've ever had! Seriously. All made fresh and clearly with love. They are also very kind- something that does not go unnoticed for us. MUST TRY: Shahi Paneer; Eggplant Bhartha. Great value- both come with rice and naan included! Wonderful flavours. Thank you :)
Authenticity. I looooove this place! The food was amazing. Best butter chicken and samosa's I've ever had! The little lady the works there know great Indian home cooking and to top it off she's so sweet! Best place ever. :)
Was in the area and decided to give this place a try. Curry chicken was a good sized portion for the price. Curry was flavourful as described on the menu. Vegetable samosas arrived to table pipping hot out of the fryer. Was a bit disappointed with the flavor profile. It was mostly potatoes with some peas scattered throughout. They were mildly spicy. I prefer my samosas with more mixed vegetables and a good kick of spice like the ones I get in Surrey. I do appreciate how fresh it was. The curry chicken was more spicy than the samosas. They ran out of chutney that is suppose to come with the samosas and offered ketchup. More of a take out joint as customers came in regularly for take out butter chicken (comes with rice and naan). Limited seating in the restaurant so it's not meant for large crowds. I would come back for take out to try the butter chicken and hopefully the chutney. Place is clean and tidy.
My fave pakoras. I have only tried the veg pakoras and veg samosas and while the samosas were great the pakoras were amazing. I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu. good price too. delicious!!
Fave spot. We love this place! Delicious indian food- vegetarian options! The lentil soup is the best we've ever had, the indian chick peas & veggie pakoras are amazing and all at very reasonable prices! The only thing Id like to see is more Indian dishes added. vegetarian dishes like jalfrazie, aloo gobi ect.
There is a new indian place that just opened a block away from East Village Eatery, which has several more items, but their prices arent as good as East Village - so I hope EV will add more items to compete!
Authentic. Super delicious food at very reasonable prices. Love having Indian food in the neighborhood! Staff/owners are really friendly and even gave the kids a complimentary dessert.
