Very tasty food for a good price. Naan were crisp and dosas were very good. Decor is Spartan. Food is freshly prepared and that explains slow service.
The food was very tasty and quite unique compared to most Indian restaurants in Vancouver. I would definitely recommend this to others! The dosa was flavourful but so was the curries, which is not the case in most restaurants

這是一間家庭式的印度小餐館，餐館在2014年9月開業，提供的餐點包括南北印度地區的家庭風味料理。餐館地方不大，裝潢非常簡潔，淡黃色的牆身下半鑲嵌著木紋框板，加上平滑光亮的仿木地板，令人有一種安寧舒暢的感覺。我前後光顧過這家餐館兩次，但兩次午餐時段都沒有其他客人，這盤生意恐怕難以長期維持下去了。食肆原本每週六供應的午市自助餐早已停辦，但店前懸掛著的宣傳橫額仍未拆除，而且有一邊更已鬆脫墜下，非常礙眼，鑑於店家連這種影響外觀的基本維修都不在意的話，估計距離結業的可能性不遠已，可惜呀！

Chicken Masala Dosa $8.50 ~ 第一盤上桌時發覺做Dosa皮的粉漿變酸了，要求店家重新更換。新Dosa的皮雖然無問題但很快就變軟不再香脆，估計是因為店家調配粉漿的比例失準導致 (2.5/5分)
Prawn Masala $11.99 (served with naan or rice) ~ 咖喱蝦做得不錯，咖喱香味濃郁好吃，但附送的印度烤餅却烤得太乾，失去口感 (3.5/5分)
Tasty but be prepared to wait. We stumbled on this place and were the first ones in for dinner at about 7pm. The food is very good! We had the chicken masala dosa, chicken biryani and a garlic naan (super garlicky and maybe not for everyone). The food is definitely made fresh and with care, and is packed with flavor. We were lucky we came first because we waited about 30 for the biryani, 45 for the dosa and close to 1hr for the naan. Many came in after us and most didn't have food by the time we left. Definitely would recommend this place, but maybe ordering ahead is the best way to go.

Tasty food + excellent value = a hidden gem!. I recently took a chance on this little place and am so glad I did. We were looking for a substantial late lunch on a weekday and decided to try this place as I love South Indian food. Note: Don't be fooled by the plastic bucket filled with garbage that was placed directly outside the front door on our visit, making it look like the place might be under construction. Step around the garbage bucket and go on in for a great casual south Indian meal. The food is home-cooked, and served in generous portions.
To start, we shared the Sambar Vadai, two pieces of lentil flour donut served with sambar. These were fresh and warm, though a perhaps a bit flavourless to my untrained palate. The Chicken Masala dosa was definitely the star attraction, featuring a crispy thin crepe filled with a savoury blend of curry potato and chicken, with three chutneys/accompaniments. I ate half and had enough for a second meal. My companion did the same with his Chicken Biryani, which was also flavourful and served in a very generous portion. I found this dish a little too salty but my companion disagreed. For dessert we shared the Kesari, a cloyingly sweet rice pudding served in a tiny but just-right portion, as they were out of the Gulab Jamun we first requested.
The service was a little slow but perhaps that was simply because we came in at 2pm and perhaps we caught them at a down time. Next time, we will probably try them for dinner so I will keep you posted. In short, I hope that Vancouver supports this great little restaurant. We will be definitely visiting Ananda Bhavan again soon, and you should too!
Yum!. Came for lunch and ordered the meat meal. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and it kept coming....and coming and coming (with offers of refills along the way!) Lunch was $20 for the two of us and we were stuffed full! Just opened a few weeks ago - hope it sticks around, because we will definitely be back!
Vegetarian Thali. Just like being in India -- delicious, especially the spicy rasam !!
