On a cold cold Vancouver night we stopped by with our out of town guest to try their Mahjong dessert (coconut pudding and red bean pudding). Ok. This was SO cute. Pricey but it was irresistible. We also had their hot black sesame soup which yummy. Will be back to try some more of their signature desserts.

After dinner, we were craving something sweet, so we decided to go to Snackshot for some classic Hong Kong style dessert: . This was their glutinous rice balls with sesame paste, in a ginger soup. Pretty good ratio of sesame paste filling to exterior:. We also had the hot almond paste dessert (top bowl with white substance), and a hot ginger tea (bottom glass of orange substance):

At Snackshot, they serve simple snacks, mostly desserts like Tangyuan or Tofu Pudding in Wood Bucket, representing the Cantonese street flavours where you could get in Hong Kong or Guangzhou. They also have savoury items like fish balls on skewers with curry sauce. The price is reasonable for a taste of authenticity.

Snackshot is a Hong Kong style dessert shop that just opened up recently. I'm loving the dessert places in the marpole area. We are very fortunate to have desserts like this that basically taste as close as it gets to Hong Kong.

If you order any bulldog drink, the server will ask if your taking a photo. If so you get a bottle cup holder. The Coke and lemonade was alright, but I think I would enjoy the red bean one next time.

The wooden bucket tofu is comforting. You can adjust the sweetness for yourself with the syrups and sugar provided, but my favourite is the ginger syrup. I would love to come back and try their dessert platter. Alot of people ordered this at every table. It can definitely feed 3-4 people in my opinion.

Although we are in Vancouver, we are lucky we are still be able to taste some Hong Kong snacks, street food and desserts here.

We ordered a bowl of hot steamed milk custard, a wooden bucket tofu for two, VitaSoy milk with red bean bulldog (cold), and a dish of curry fish balls/fish tofu, Sui mai, and rice rolls. All of them tasted excellent! One thing they could improve on was to decrease the sugar in the steam milk custard. It was extremely sweet. We wish the dish of curry fish balls/fish tofu, Sui mai, and rice roll would be a little bit bigger. We paid the same price at Aberdeen Food Court but the portion was so much more and it tasted excellent as well.

We got here around 7:15pm. The restaurant was quite full but we were lucky to get a table right away. When it was around 8pm, A LOT OF people were waiting at the foyer or outside the restaurant. Whenever we drive by, this restaurant is always busy indeed.

If you love Hong Kong street food and desserts, you should visit this restaurant and taste their hot desserts and try their Hong Kong style of drinks.

Snackshot is a new HK style dessert shop in the Marpole area. I still remember when this location was Bubble World back when I was in high school! It’s located next to Qoo Cafe on Granville and 64th. The outside doesn’t look that inviting but the decor inside is on point. I don’t normally gravitate towards Asian desserts (I’m more into cakes and pastries) but I was interested in trying their dessert platter and the Vitasoy Bulldog drink. Also, it took me 20+ years before I could accept red bean as a dessert.

Very good service experience - staff were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It was really busy but they never rushed us out and let us finish our food.

Food and drinks were good overall nothing stood out as "bad" or really "bland". Sampler great way to start if you are in a group of 4. The bulldog vitasoy bottle drink def worth a try once - was not too sweet, red beans were easy to chew. Just note that you can't take the bottle home as they re-use them.

It is pricey but I would go here over the night market. Will go back to try the tofu bucket.

I've been here twice so far and although the desserts seem simple, their freshness and quality are unmatched in comparison to other restaurants. The staff seem very dedicated to delivering an authentic product. The atmosphere is friendly but be prepared to wait a while before getting a table.

What we ordered :

Tofu Pudding (cold) : Tastes like fresh silken tofu, this dessert doesn't have much flavour but I was expecting that, extremely light.

Mango Grapefruit Sago w/Ice cream : I suggest this one if plainer desserts aren't your cup of tea. The soup was very creamy and tasted distinctly of fresh mango. It wasn't too sweet and was again, very light.

Taro Sago in Coconut Milk : Smooth, milky and accented with small bites of fresh taro. Similar to the mango dessert but with a subtle taro flavour.

Red Date and Longan Soup : Very traditional and surprisingly not too sweet! I preferred this version to the more syrup-y ones.

Steamed Milk Custard : This was my favorite. Highly reminiscent of the ones they sell in Hong Kong. It's less like a egg-pudding and more like a western cornstarch-milk pudding (but less heavy).

To conclude, this place specializes in traditional cantonese sweets which may be too plain for those who prefer stronger or sweeter desserts.
That being said, if you're looking for something very traditional and nostalgic, this is an excellent place.
