The atmosphere is very cozy inside. I came in needing change for parking. I decided to get a ham and cheese croissant, and a drip coffee.
I was blown away by their coffee. It's so rich and bold in taste, wow. Their ham and cheese croissant was alright. But the most memorable part is their service. Very kind and friendly, alot of knowledge about coffee beans too. I would definitely come back for their coffee.
This is quite the gem on the drive! If you get out of the skytrain station and you aren't afraid of a little rain, walk on up to Continental!
They've got a decent selection of baked goods and even a menu of gluten-free and/or vegan options too!
We just got a drip coffee each, but the coffee was outstanding. They gave us a little bit of soy/almond as we're lactose-intolerant and we had comfy seats next to friendly strangers.
Definitely a comfy and cozy kind of place. We will be back!
I haven't been to Continental in ages and the coffee is just as excellent as ever. It's usually incredibly busy, but I picked a relatively quiet weekday afternoon for a visit with a friend. The staff are still great and friendly and some of the same political conversations that were going on back when I was in University can still be heard in the background.
Great little coffee shop, and a truly excellent roaster.. I've been buying coffee beans here since the early 90's and whenever I'm in Vancouver I still do. Here on Vancouver Island it's hard to get a decent dark Italian roast. The fad seems to be light roasts. They're awful. I do NOT want my morning coffee to have "citrus notes."
I just finished my last Continental beans this morning and it's a sad day.
Quick service for beans, at least. YumVeg's review about the sub so-so service and the smoky atmosphere put me off from having any sit-down coffee on a Sunday morning when I was biking by here. But I needed some beans for my home machine, and Continental Coffee has a good rep for its roasts. All I can say is that the slim, tatted-up, face-pierced beanista -- she looked SO "Drivey" -- gave me some caffeinated counter service. The big-bellied Boomer ahead of me was having trouble working the EFTPOS terminal to pay for his order which slowed the cash register line. Instead of waiting the grey-hair to finish, the counter chick asked what I wanted, got it while the old guy putzed around with his PIN, and took my cash before his electronic purchase went through. So I give Continental's bean-op a thumbs up for the espresso check-out!
Take some home. I really love Continental coffee beans but I am not a huge fan of the drinks I have had in the cafe. I have had a double shot of iced espresso that was good but I am not a fan of how they brew their coffee or their prepared specialty coffee's. They really REALLY need to do some renovations and clean the place up a bit.
Best coffee. I have been drinking/ buyingcoffee at Continental Coffee since the 70's....the BEST coffee going with the best and nicest owners in southwestern BC
This is my order and I love it!! As I mentioned before, I don’t like coffee and after drinking this, my demand for coffee has increased a lot!
Its great! I loved my latte! And its surprisingly cheap considering the taste and size! (I think it was $3 or so for a 20 oz cup).
