Yes. We,re Eating Again.

Congee Noodle King is a short walk from Joyce Street Station on Kingsway and we chose to go there for dinner this past weekend. We were seated quickly by our somewhat abrupt server who clearly had reached the end of her long shift. Our food started to arrive fairly quickly after we placed our order. First up was Rice Roll with Chinese Doughnut. This was a good version with a crispy doughnut which is what one hopes for. The Chicken Wings with Spicy Sauce were very good. Unbattered, crispy and hot, they were covered in chopped garlic, green onions and jalapenos. We found ourselves spooning up the 'sauce' even after the wings were gone. Sauteed Cod and Creamed Corn on Steamed Rice turned out to be deep-fried which was just fine. This was a velvety concoction completed with some scrambled eggs that we have enjoyed in the past. I had to investigate whether their really was fish under that batter! It was thinly sliced but sure enough, it was there. And finally, Shredded Pork on Noodles came with a clear soup on the side. We mixed it all up and savoured the meaty sauce. Loved the noodles which had just a slight chew and soaked up the sauce. Congee Noodle King is exactly what you expect which is why we love it. Solid Chinese food with a lot of choices at a reasonable price. A little on the noisy side but that's OK. It's a place where families gather and visit and eat. Despite our one somewhat surly server, everyone else was friendly and accommodating.
A traditional Cantonese restaurant, three ppl ordered combo-as-4, after eating half, we take out the other half, which is 4=6. The taste is also good, shrimp are so big!
Awesome old school Cantonese cuisine. Good sized portions for the price. Dungeness crab special an amazing deal. Can't wait to eat here again.
• since I heard so much about this place, I checked it out and it was Good!
• I had to order take out as the place was really busy during early evening, place was packed and a lot of orders for pick up... non stop
• not so nice staff, for a tiny portion of ginger garlic you have to pay! Kind of annoying especially when you order quite a bit from them
• Noodles, Rice, dishes: I must say they are wonderful that I’ll go back and have more later!
Delicious. Why 5 stars? Because it makes what it makes best. Casual “cantonese food” done right. Spicy fried everything is prefect. Not greasy and not too spicy. The noodles and rice dishes are great.
Just to let you guys know they closed on Wednesdays.
The food is great, and the place is very noisy especially when it's a full house.
They are specialized in congee, fried noodles, fried rice.
For two people $25 should give you a pretty good meal.
It is a no-frills - fast food place for Chinese food.
Lengthy a la carte menu to meet every craving.
Whatever you order, you get huge portions of decent food for very reasonable prices.
A very popular spot, we have never seen this place empty. Service is short, but it's the food that keeps us coming back.
Not much parking at rear, so just have to park along Kingsway where it can be tricky to find a spot!
Congee Noodle King 粥麵軒 is on Kingsway and Joyce Street. It is not easy to find a good congee place near Metrotown. This is a typical Chinese style congee place. You may be ask to share tables if you are in a small group or if all the smaller tables are taken.
If you want to have lunch without waiting in line for 30+ minutes, it would be best to show up before 11:30 AM on the weekend.
We tried their HK Style Sampan Congee 艇仔粥 . It is a solid choice for congee! We paired the congee with two side dishes (Sweet Chinese Donuts & Steamed Shrimp Rice Roll). Delicious!

After an evening downtown I had a congee craving so Wendy suggested we try Congee Noodle King Seafood Restaurant, an unassuming Chinese place along Kingsway that does a late night menu. The menu is quite varied and has three tiers priced at $5.35, $6.45, and $6.95. We ordered a Plain Congee (Large) ($5.35) and it was just that. Pretty damn large.
Great local joint in the Collingwood area to satisfy a congee/noodle fix. This place can be jammed packed during lunch and dinner hours so I would recommend to go during off peak hours. Menu is super affordable with good portions. Congee is hot, tasty and smooth. They serve a variety of food ranging from snacks, BBQ meats, wonton noodles, fried rice/noodles to traditional Chinese dishes. Only downside is finding parking...either meter parking on Kingsway or on side streets which is limited.
