The Federal Store is one of the cutest cafes I've been to! I highly recommend the almond and pear galette, and they have amazing coffee. To top it all off, they have the sweetest staff!
Delicious almond latte and vegan cookie completed my Sunday-Snowday : ) worth leaving the house for! If you haunt Mount Pleasant - stop in here !!!

This is one of the best cafes in my hood: the espressos are out of this world, the food is delish and the service is warm and friendly... They make every effort to accommodate you! I went in two days ago and ordered the chicken pear sandwich. I’m not crazy about sandwiches at cafes since they are often heavy on bread and low on filling but this blew all other chicken sandwiches out of the water! It had a good ratio of toasted bread to filling and was a great combo of flavours... not at all the the typical generic, bland chicken salad. I had my dog outside and asked them to add an extra 1/2 portion of chicken for him that I’d pay for. They did, even bringing it out in a a special little bowl for him! I was awed that they’d care so much.
Today I ordered the yam quiche as it was highly recommended by another reviewer. It did not disappoint. I’ve had and made a lot of quiches over the years. But this was different and incredible as it was a caramelized yam quiche.
Get thee here! Support a small, local quality cafe/restaurant in your city rather than the generic mega chains.

This is such a hidden gem with such a beautiful aroma of coffee and pastries. Ordered this cute little thing, cuz I don't exactly know what cardamom is 😂 (tbh, I still don't know). Google said it is a type of spice. The pastry is semi-sweet and soft. It has a kinda crispy shell, and I just can't stop eating it. However, the mocha here is not really my flavour, because it has more of a bitterness to it. But I would definitely come back for more pastries ❤️.

The corner shop meets casual cafe and eatery serves Bows & Arrows coffee beans, baked goods, and in-house made bread (for sandwiches) while seating sixteen.
The café is a new one that was opened very recently (maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago). The owners apparently fixed up the place all on their lonesome, and it looks great. Super clean lighting with a nice selection of munchies that you’d find at a general store. Great coffee (beans from Bows & Arrows) that I would come back for, especially as it’s along a very popular bike route at 10th and Quebec.
At The Federal Store, we know right away that this is a different kind of place. That’s because by the end of our visit, every single one of the four employees at Mount Pleasant’s newest coffee shop has talked to us.
Yes, this is a tiny cafe. But it’s a tightly-run operation where every staffer seems to know their role, or jump in to help. There’s from the baker working on pastries. Christopher Allen, one of the young owners, we see him pop up from behind the counter, welcoming us in. A barista – who is super busy by the way – takes our orders, then works on grinding beans, tamping, pulling shots. The other owner, Colette Griffiths, heads to our table, checking on us.
