The main theme of the dim sim "Umami!" Been a long time since I dim sum that it was good enough to remember. This place is expensive though and if your once of those people that prefer quantity over quality, this ISNT the place for you. The flavours came together really well and balanced but the GEM was in the fine details like thin shell of dumplings, right amount of salt to bring the flavours together without being overly salty, durian pastry that melts i. Your mouth. Im inspired to try their dinner set now !
Prince’s Seafood Restaurant has many innovative dim sum dishes. Of particular interest to me were the scallop dumplings which had sweet corn in them and the truffle fungus dumplings. We went in on a Thursday - and found the place PACKED; turns out that if you pay the bill before 11:30am you get 15% off of the bill - which is nice, for the prices are quite steep. Also of note is that they offer several different options for tea.
This place was packed during dinner, and people were waiting for tables throughout the time we dined there. Not surprising as the majority of the food was exceptional. But bear in mind, the quality of the food is matched by the price we paid. It was definitely on the higher side, but in hindsight we didn't need to order the banquet menu and should have went a la carte. However there is no denying that the Alaskan King Crab was out of this world. Thick, juicy, sweet and tender flesh and great flavours. The fried rice was one of the most fragrant and tasty fried rice I have ever had. The only thing we didn't like was the chicken (too dry and lean) and the noodles (too bland).
The service, while very attentive, was not very friendly. We had our plates replaced at least 5 times throughout the meal, but there was nothing approachable about the servers who served us.
