An amazing chai rooibos almond milk latte with beaitiful latte art! Love this place
Never mind the thoughts of Gregor Samsa; Kafka's has some of the best caffeinated beverages available in this over-served coffee Mecca called Vancouver. Come visit! You won't regret it!
This is a small cafe located near the intersection of Main Street and Broadway. As the name of their shop implies, they specialize in various drinks, although they do have some a small rotating menu of fresh baked goods. I had a Ham & Cheese Croissant and Chocolate Chip Sea Salt Cookie. I don't know what the actual prices of their food is (they didn't have it labelled), but the total was $8. Both were very good. Although I haven't tried any of their drinks, I think that the place is worth visiting for the food alone.
Ham & Cheese Croissant (around $5):
4/5
The croissant was buttery and flaky. I liked that the ham was spread throughout the croissant so that I could get it from every bite. The cheese provided a nice creaminess.
Chocolate Chip Sea Salt Cookie (around $3):
4/5
The cookie was tender and chewy, and had a nice sweet fragrance. There was chocolate spread throughout the cookie. The sea salt on top provided a nice bit of saltiness to balance the sweetness.

4.75/5Located in Mount pleasant, Kafka is a bright and homely coffeeshop that serves a good crowd with quality Teas and single source coffees and all that jazz.Found this cafe incredibly charming. I had this oregano peppermint tea which was really refreshing. Love the little glass cup to hold your tea. Great customer service, the baristas know what they are doing.I believe that they only have 2 outlets so, get there early! Really enjoyed my time here! Their selection of pastries also looked pretty swell.xAngel
If anyone's circulating a petition to have this neighbourhood be its own independent nation, sign me up immediately. One of the best surprises of exploring Vancouver is finding unique businesses pocketing this vast and eclectic area called East Van.Around these parts, they say you can take a guy out of East Van, but not the East Van out of a guy. Which is to say, as much as I have grown to love it, it's a different experience from someone like Mike, who's been raised here, a city's mighty heartbeat throbbing through his veins. I recognize it: it's a gritty mix of backbone, old fashioned street smarts and knowing exactly where you came from.
Excellent coffee shop. I stop by regularly & buy their roasts for home (their regular espresso blend is consistently excellent; smooth, flavourful without bitterness). Instore drinks well made and room is nice though often very busy with usual wi-fi-ers.
Kafka's could make it in Oz. I recently returned from a trip to Australia, where the espresso coffee drinks are uniformly excellent. When I burned through the beans in my house, I decided to stop at some coffee house up here before I bought a new bag for the home espresso machine. Thought I'd see how Vancouver stacks up to Oz with the memory of Down Under coffee fresh on my taste buds. Kafka's gets a good rap on Urbanspoon and it's close to the 10th Street-bicycle highway that I ride, so I paid a visit for a cappucino.
Based on the one I had, I reckon Kafka's could hold its own in Australia, the land of the "flat white." Their cappucino was small, maybe 8 oz. of liquid, strongly flavoured without tasting over-espressed. The milk was closer to the Aussie style of "micro-foam" instead of being frothed into a bubble bath. Other reviewers have praised kafka's almond croissant, and it wasn't bad, especially if you like the style with a lot of crunch to the outer crust. The almond croissants from Matchstick at Fraser and Kingsway are better, though. Now I've gotta see how Kafka's espresso beans taste from my home machine. At $17 for a 500-gram bag, they'd better be good.
Superb coffee geek hangout. Excellent baked items including a devastating almond croissant. I'd be here daily if I lived in Vancouver.
Chill!. Awesome coffee, great baristas and cool space. The rotating art on the walls also keeps the cafe fresh and inspiring. Great!
Great coffee and cozy vibe. Try the gibraltar. Sunday afternoon place is packed. Lots of hipsters and 10+ MacBooks.
Coffee Paradise. I have been to this place 3 times and each time I am blown away by their coffee. Its pure and its true.
Hands down best coffee of my life and I am not young!. I was lucky enough today to have Aaron pour me a Gibraltar (aka a tiny latte). First it is very visually appealing, presented in a short glass with a rich creamy heart shot decorating the top.
As I scanned the area for the sugar, Aaron said "no sugar." I nodded in agreement, secretly wishing I had worn my secret spy watch, ya know the sugar dispensing one.
I drank the coffee as instructed and had to say it was smooth, creamy and was sweet without any sugar required. I was so taken by the fantastic flavour
that I had to give them a shout out. Try it, you will be transformed and have a new level of appreciation for the beauty found in coffee.
The space is well designed, inviting and clean.
Check it out you won't be disappointed.
