Just gave this place a shot based purely on location to where I am staying. I called in beforehand to ask about the veggie / vegan options and was given all the info I needed which was plenty of options. Not only that, but despite the background noise in the restaurant suggesting it was super busy, the employee on the phone was super patient and friendly with me. I picked up my taco and burrito about 15mins later and sure enough the place was packed. I heard one gal as she was leaving say "that was the best taco I have ever had." Needless to say my expectations were pretty high... and WOW did La Catrina ever deliver!! I will be going back to this restaurant A LOT. Best veggie burrito I have ever had and the frijole taco was badass too! Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves tacos and / or burritos. It's tiny and busy (I assume all the time) and more of a to-go style restaurant though there are some seats inside. Best of both worlds. Hang and eat or grab and go. I'd give it 6 stars if I could đ€đŻđź
Holy cow! The best tacos we've had in Van and we've tried them all. My fiancé is from Mexico City and pretty particular - this place got it done!
Best tacos in Van I've had so far. This place will be hoppin' in the summer being so close to the beach. Their chicken tinga is amazing. Do try!
This was the final stop of our five part taco crawl, and taco number 7 and 8. Good thing too, because we were stuffed. The âTaco Crawlâ is an annual event created and hosted by âVancouver Foodsterâ, to celebrate some of his favourite taco places. I was plus one to the the talented âPicky Dinerâ, who was not only one of the judges of this event; but a friend to âVancouver Foodsterâ. We ended up tagging along with âVancouver Foodsterâ, touring his own crawl. He was our food guide, giving us context of each place and regaling us with tasty tall tales.
I have been to la Catrina about once a week since they opened! Friendly staff and great food. The tacos are always an interesting and unique combination of flavours that leave me wanting more. I have now worked my way through the entire .
This are incredible traditional Mexican tacos so good i can live there!!!  Please try carnitas is so so good that i felt that i was in heaven.
Absolutely loved the place, I ordered the 4 taco combo and it did not disappoint. They were really tasty, the meat to tortilla ratio was plentiful and I liked their little bar with salsas and avocado sauce. Extra points for having cochinita pibil on special :D It's a very small shop and super busy so it's had to sit down and enjoy your food on a nice summer day, so it's great for a quick bite before heading to the beach (they also pack pretty convenient to-go containers). One big minus is that they don't have a bathroom which in my opinion is a serious sanitation issue!
Went veggie on Taco Tuesday at La Catrina! I didn't look too hard at which options were vegan, but it is likely they would just remove the cheese for the most part. The Taco Tuesday offer is five (5) tacos plus choice of pop for $10 if all-veggie tacos, $11 if you have some meat tacos in there. Normally tacos are $3 each and sodas are also $3, so you're getting your meal for almost half price.
Best tacos EVER!!! Super friendly and feels like I'm on holiday every time! You have to try them! Cheap too..favorite is the fish and vegetarian potato or spicy mushroom!

Thereâs a new taqueria in town.  Located at 1187 Denman Street, La Catrina is the newest addition to the local Mexican taco scene.  I have tried a few restaurants serving tacos here in the West End, but my experiences have not enticed me to be a regular customer yet.  I was excited to learn about this new taqueria opening and was keen to see if they could become my new go-to taco restaurant in this neighbourhood.
