The signature congee 蠔豉皮蛋瘦肉粥 is always the must-eat item here.
I can see at least 3 tables of customers enjoying lobster at 11pm. 愈夜愈熱鬧!
It is an ideal place to enjoy late dinner on Friday night. You will not feel lonely as there is always lots of Cantonese speaking hk people eating together at late night.

Ho Yuen Kee is a traditional Chinese restaurant located in Fraserhood in Vancouver. Among their extensive Chinese menu, they are best known for their seafood-notably the Lobster Sticky Rice.

We were craving for some wonton noodles since it’s been a while since we been to a Cantonese style restaurant for lunch.  We thought of Ho Yuen Kee (HYK) along south Fraser street in Vancouver since they are known for there dumplings. We got there late Saturday afternoon after 2pm and didn’t have to wait for seats as the lunch time crowd had already dispersed.  Their prices looked rather reasonable as various bowl noodles there can be had for under $7.

Good Chinese restaurant that's always busy with lots of customers - food is decent. For their 19th anniversary of being in business, they're currently offering a 10% discount (if paying by cash) for VIP members. Anyone can sign up for VIP membership if their bill before tax exceeds $100.

After trying the Lobster Sticky Rice at Flamingo House, we were interested to see how this dish fared at other restaurants. I’ve seen plenty of pictures of the Lobster Sticky Rice at Ho Yuen Kee on Fraser Street on social media so I figured this would be a good place to try out. Ho Yuen Kee is a smallish restaurant and, due to how busy it gets, the tight quarters is a bit annoying (although not unexpected at some Chinese restaurants). They really need more servers here because service was sloooooow!

The lobster on sticky rice was so good and I had it for takeout. I've only been here once and haven't tried the food fresh but I would eat the sticky rice (even without the lobster) every time I visit. The rice was really soft and has great flavour. I had noodles and vegetable dishes too but it was alright (also takeout which may affect the quality).

I've heard people ranting about this place. The lobster and sticky rice is very popular here and that I should try it. First impressions going in, the place is set up nicely. Service is actually decent and when I asked what are the chefs recommendations our server also mentioned the lobster dish. So when the dish came wow... Visually it looked amazing. However the sticky rice wasn't what I expected. It seemed to be missing a savory element. Lobster is nicely done Cantonese style. But in the end I'm glad I gave it a try. Cudos on offering something different to draw people into their buisness

All the festivities surrounding Chinese New Year and all the food that accompanies it, had me wondering what is there for good Chinese in Vancouver? I have always just relied on my parents to choose a restaurant and tell me what’s good. But today I was with a friend. He would be giving me a different perspective on Chinese cuisine, and a different opinion on what he thought was good. Growing up in Asia he has a fair idea of what authentic should taste like, and by comparison, what is only passable.

Went here for a small dinner like only 5 of us, pre ordered the necessary items, the lobster with sticky rice and also the wintermelon soup :) definitely i had planned this for 2 weeks ahead and need to preorder the items, hmmm atleast 1 day or 2 days before now i can't remember. the place is definitely not in a busy street, easy to find parking, and the staff were friendly, place is relatively packed considering that i went there on weekdays night. would recommend reserving a table as well.

Knew this place from another foodie who also recommended this restaurant and she mention that need to order a few dishes like sticky rice with lobster is a must.. so ordered it. no hesitant i trust my foodie source. :D

the food, as for the sticky rice with lobster, it's fresh, love the sweetness that is from the lobster, and on top of that there's the sauce on mixed together with the sticky rice and the whole dish was delicious. there's sweetness from the sticky rice as well as it's cooked to the right temperature and brings the aroma of it.

the wintermelon soup was definitely not bad as well, as they have prepared it as well, it came in with a golden wintermelon soup covering which is very unique i'll say, very good display the taste, definitely a good combination of meat and wintermelon along with other ingredients as well. hmm although i must say that the taste of the food is not as good as layered as the one that i have in koonbo, but this one is definitely not bad too.

got veggies, yeap they cooked it right, definitely good cook.

and overall i must say, that the overall food is great, nothing is bad, but at the same time the price of the food, hmmm the sticky rice with lobster is definitely worth it, the wintermelon hmmm pretty good, this is my second time trying wintermelon soup in a restaurant, so far it's okay for this one. definitely recommend the place :)

On a wintery sunday evening, the family met for dinner at Ho Yuen Kee on Fraser Street (at East 46th Avenue). It’s a busy little place, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, even though we had reservations. We started with one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. It’s lobster on sticky rice.
