Food is super good and the vibe of the place is very relaxing! Excellent service as well!
Favourite sushi place in BC. Great service every single time and the food is always amazing. ♡♡♡
AMAZING food and service! The first person to take me here was my boyfriend and I've been hooked ever since. Always recommending this Sushi joint to friends and family.
Disgusting service. My boyfriend and I went here, hoping for something warm for dinner. He started to feel sick so I requested for more napkins. I wave a server down and another woman behind the cash just lost it at me. She literally said, "Don't say HI to the servers, you're supposed to say 'excuse me' or 'do you have a moment, please'. Do you understand me?" The tone of course, was extremely rude and off putting.
Completely at a lost for words, we get up and leave. I told her to get some manners, to which she says "no thank you! Bye!" Are you serious? Does she not understand customer service?
If my boyfriend wasn't sick I would have given her a piece of my mind. Never have I been treated so badly in a restaurant for no apparent reason. As we left, my boyfriend threw up. Part of me wishes he puked back in the place so they would have been forced to clean it.
UPDATE: The manager finally followed up with me yesterday and offered us to have a meal on the house as compensation. I was pleasantly surprised and accepted his invitation, so boyfriend and I headed there tonight. The manager greeted us and sat us down promptly- he apologized again for the incident last time.
We ordered a sashimi combo and a beef udon (they added the combo for it too, a nice touch). The portions were good. My udon was huge, although I think they put too much onion in the soup. It came with a croquet (tasted awesome), a California roll, and edamame. The sashimi with my boyfriend's combo was fairly fresh and tasted decent.
Oh, and I got yam fries for takeout for free too. I offered to pay but the manager waved it off. Overall it was a good experience, and the manager was very friendly.
One factor bought it down to 4 stars though, and that was when I was ordering the yam fries, I saw the woman again who gave me the attitude. The same one from behind the cash. I didn't recognize her for a second but who else would look so pissed off for no reason (lol). Either way, the stink-eye she was giving me wasn't a great way to end the night... But hey, everything else was pretty good.
4/5 for that woman again. But I'm pretty satisfied overall.
Went here on a limb when the usual go-to sushi places were closed or jam packed...I was pleasantly surprised! It's a very small, cozy, intimate restaurant with lots to choose from. It's also one of the few places I have been to that offers both wild sockeye salmon in place of the farmed Atlantic salmon. Quality of the sushi itself was pretty good - we ordered plenty of rolls with salmon and took the wild option. Since wild salmon is less fatty, you have more of a fish:fat ratio and it is less mushy than the farmed stuff. The gomae and agedashi tofu were also amazing and priced so right. You can tell they used fresh oil since when our tofu and tempura came out light. The menu is very well priced. And they have a loyalty program for frequent goers!
Blowfish is a small Japanese restaurant near PNE on East Hastings. We were wandering and looking for dinner place after I picked up Hubby from work. Hubby wanted to eat something light and not oily; therefore, we decided to look for sushi place near the area by Zomato. We searched and found Blowfish with pretty high rating so we decided to give it a try. Blowfish is a small Japanese restaurant near PNE area. From the raving reviews, Blowfish is a sushi joint offering different kinds of delicious rolls at a very good economy price range. However, all tables were emptied when we walked in at 8ish. Hm... turned out we saw lots of people came in to pick up their sushi orders. LOL.
Came by here for a quick bite before work and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered ika ($1.25) and chopped scallop nigiri ($2.25), both very fresh and the rice was cooked al dente. Rice was lukewarm though =\ also ordered a salmon river roll ($7.50), it has cooked salmon tempura and avocado inside, topped with smoked salmon, sesame crumble and house vinaigrette. This was nice, I like how the roll melts in my mouth and the crumble adds a crunch texture. The tangy vinaigrette was appetizing and helped cut the fatty feeling of the deep fried salmon tempura. Yum! Prices are quite reasonable and portions are fair.

Whenever I see Aburi Salmon Oshi on the menu, you can quite safely bet that I will order it. Here, it was $12 for 8 pieces, which is a good deal for this dish. The Aburi Salmon Oshi came with pressed salmon, very thin slices of jalapeño, and a seared layer of signature sauce. They used lots of buttery Atlantic salmon for a rich flavour and a smooth texture. Great neighbourhood sushi. This is our neighbourhood sushi joint - everyone needs one! Service is friendly, food is fresh and very good quality. I love some of the specialty rolls and interesting items like the ika karaage.
Tasty. Though it's a longer walk than some of the other sushi places in my neighbourhood, I prefer Blowfish to all of them. The seafood is nice and fresh and the rice is well seasoned.
If you decide to forgo the sushi, they have some yummy options on the menu. I recommend the yam fries. They are not like the ones you'd get at a chain restaurant.
This place is amazing! The food is delicious, it's consistent, I've been eating here at least 3 times a month for the last 4 years since they opened, best sushi in the area, even though I moved and am further way I still come back here. Best mango cream cheese roll! They're crispy salmon roll is amazing too! For the prices this is definitely it!
DELICIOUS!. Love this place! Always fresh quality sushi. Some favorites are...
