Best Peking Duck in Vancouver.
They moved here from Cambie Street.
Always excellent good quality food.
I am their customer for more than 20 years.

I've been going to Flamingo ever since Cambie, Fraser Street and now the Marine Drive location. The quality of each location did vary sometimes when eating dim sum. I guess this is due to having a different cook.
My favourite location was Fraser Street because they had bigger portions like their Phoenix Prawns and fried squid. Also better recipes for their tripe(dark sauce) and lots of room. Now that they are on Marine Drive, I've noticed that some changes. There are no more steamed rice rolls and sauce that came with the fried shrimp dumpling, which contained apples and some kind of mayo.
The price is decent and the staff is pretty much the same people since the 80's(now that's dedication).
I enjoy pretty much everything there and miss the dishes that they discontinued. I do recommend reservations for dim sum because the Lee family has been around for quite some time and they have a huge following.

What an excellent experience. Having been to the original location on Cambie for many years I was keen on checking out the new location but was sad to see the poor reviews. Luckily, these reviews were all wrong!!From the outside it looks small but wow, clean, bright and ample seating.  We were greeted right away and were given a table and brought tea and waters as soon as we sat down. We dined mid week during lunch and took advantage of the dim sum menu. Lot's of wonderful options all fairly priced and delicious. We ordered the sui mai, prawn dumplings, pork dumplings, house fried rice, taro leaf rice, green beans with pork and rice paper rolls. Wow, excellent, served hot and served with the accompaniments (vinegar, hot sauce and mustard). The owner and maitre'd were both walking around and topped off waters and tea, greeting guests and being gracious hosts. The servers were attentive and kind as well. The washrooms were also very clean and offered a baby change station which was great to see they cared about all future diner's needs. The restaurant was roughly 55% full and every diner seemed to be enjoying their meals. They offered ample seating and looked like they could easily accommodate larger groups. Overall an excellent experience. The food was delicious (total bill was $35 before tax and tip for dim sum), the new location is a worth the drive. I look forward to dining there again.

Back at the end of 2015, Flamingo closed their doors on their popular Cambie Street location. As with so many places on the Cambie corridor, rising land values had proved too tempting and the owner had sold the property. This left us with a few months of withdrawal from Flamingo House until their new location on Marine Drive was ready.

Update: January 2018
The service has gotten alot better.
There is actual pricing on their menus now
We had a wonderful dim sum this afternoon and their dimsum ends at 4:30! Wow

My girlfriend, highschool friend, and I decided to try flamingo's new location. Their name and reputation has been in buisness since 1975. That's a hell of a lot of years. This will be our first time and we are very excited.

First impressions. Parking is accessible and if the lot is full theirs plenty of parking in the neighborhood. Upon entering, wow... Renos are done very nicely. They used every space possible. We came for dimsum at noon on a Friday long weekend and the place smells wonderful. Upon looking at the menu we noticed that there's no price advertised....

Then we realized they have push carts! Man its been a while since I've seen this service. And they were smart about it too because they didn't stack numerous items. They kept it simple. The only down side is that all our items were cold or just like warm... Perhaps ordering fresh may be a better option but for people who enjoy looking at all the items before ordering, it's good visual for the consumer.

So how did the food taste? It was good.
And the service? Holy it's a 5/5 for service. Everyone was so attentive to the point that a server came because I was raising my arms yawning lol. Even a couple managers came to our table joking with us and talking about my friends daughter. Very pleased with the service.

Improvements? The only thing I can think about is the pricing point. Alot of consumers do want to know what they are paying for. When the bill came I quickly snatched it. I noticed a 23 dollar charged before tax and it wasn't labeled. I'm not arguing the price point at the moment but I kindly asked management what the 23 dollar charge was. The cashier then told me it was for the Gai Lan and chow mein...

23 bucks for a dim sum size plate of Gai Lan and a mediocre chow mein with tons of sprouts? I didn't argue the price point but in my opinion both those items didn't taste like 23 bucks... Don't get me wrong we are not cheap eaters, we appreciate quality and hand made items, but those two items were just ok... We only ordered it for my friends 3 year old daughter. No wow factor. I would recommend to stick with the traditional dim sum items if your a frugal eater. That 23 bucks could've been 4 dim sum items. The tables across from us were also asking about the price for each items on the menus as well.

Would I come back again? Yes I would like to try dinner. Dim sum came out to just under 70 bucks before tip...

I think western lake is still the front runner on quality dimsum with appropriate pricing.
