KAMEI Royal is a great place to check out if you are looking for great Japanese food in the Vancouver. They have a Sushi and many poplar Japanese IZAKAYA menu. My favorite desh is Agedashi-Tofu and Dobin-mushi mushroom soup it was so delicious!! Also there are so many different type of Japanese Sake. I would recommend getting a reservation if you are coming for dinner during regular so if hours, especially on the the weekends.
Went to their new W Hastings operation and was blown away by the fusion style innovation with their Maki rolls. Their Coca-Cola Coconut soda tasted really good. I felt skeptical at first but found it was really to my liking!
Kamei Royale has been around for many years now! I want to say, over 15 years?! It is part of the Kamei Royale group, of which Ebisu and Kamei Baru are part of too. The food is alright, it is a bit overpriced for what you get due to the location- smack middle of downtown, which is expected.
Last summer, they had a grand opening at their new location on Hastings. We returned with a group of 15 people for the Christmas holidays. The lady there who I have seen for many years at the old location was still there and was serving us. The restaurant now had a modern feel but with traditional Japanese decor. Their tatami rooms that they had all along the walls of the old place were no longer incorporated, instead had chic like bar seats, modern slick booths or tables with chairs.

Kamei Royale is an authentic Japanese restaurant and has been around for decades. It used to be the largest sushi restaurant in Greater Vancouver (by area) and was conveniently located near Burrard Station. Their new location is just a few steps away, but in a much more
This past summer, Kamei Royale relocated to a new Downtown location in Coal Harbour. The move to a different space allowed Kamei Royale to offer an even larger menu and service. Founded in 1970, Kamei Royale is one of the longstanding restaurants in Vancouver. They are the first authentic traditional Japanese restaurant to open in Vancouver. Kamei Royale also has other notable sister restaurants including Ebisu Robson, Ebisu Broadway, Ebisu Richmond and Kamei Baru.
Just celebrated my birthday tonite party of 12. Large groups are always tricky but this place was excellent! Very attentive and really good with recommendations! This place has a never ending amount of sake choices to try, so had the Supreme Sake Sampler! Started with the Panko Oyster and then had the Seared Tuna Taco. Both were very good! Good size for oysters and the taco had a large size of seared tuna inside. Also full of veggies and fresh sweet mango topped with roe. I definitely recommend this restaurant excellent service, great food and it's in beautiful Coal Harbour.
This would be the first restaurant grand opening I attended, or rather the first grand reopening. “Kamie Royale” has returned to downtown and they did so with a bang. My guest and I were one of 250 who got an invitation to all the festivities. We unfortunately missed the first hour, and along with it some of their sushi samples. But luckily we were still in time for all the unique performances set to mark the occasion. So this blog is more in a review of the opening as appose to the restaurant and its food. Exhibitions and artful showings of traditional Japanese culture, in celebration of an establishment once again opening its doors.

Thanks to Loopp Media and Klip Magazine, we were invited to the grand opening of Kamei Royale at their new location in Coal Harbour at 1066 West Hastings. Kamei Royale used to be around Burrard and Georgia if you remember. The event was packed so it was hard to really capture the interior space. A long bar is on one side.
We have tried a lot of sushi in Vancouver and this place always has us coming back. The quality is great for the price, and the service is top notch. The presentation of the food is always beautiful. We highly recommend the Takoyaki!
Amazing japanese restaurant. A perfect mix of authentic traditional dishes and also modern options, the uni, hotate and chu toro sashimi was incredible fresh
Sukiyaki Beef Udon is not good. The beef was like overcooked and the soup was a bit too salty.
The Tuna roll is highly recommended. It was super tasty.
The service is good. 😊
This place is surprisingly good because I initially thought it was a tourist trap. The place is downstairs in a building and there is a karaoke sign so it's very hard to not associate it as a tourist spot. The food is very decent but the portions are tiny. Maybe it's because of Happy Hour, the hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar) is tiny about 1/4 of the portion in the US. Many of the people working there are Japanese women so I'd say the food is fairly authentic. Overall it's a good restaurant that's slightly overpriced.
Love this place and truly a hidden gem in DT. It was my first time here for a team dinner. Everything was great but I particularly loved their Salmon Oshi which has always been my fave. The place gives you the Japanese feel and their service were all hospitable and gracious. I will be back and next time I will bring the family :)
Lovely little gem of a restaurant (albeit a large space). The service was super fast and attentive and genuinely nice while the food (especially oysters and tuna) was exceptional. Prices aren’t too outrageous, would definitely come back.
