Chau Veggie Express is a vegan Vietnamese restaurant, which is quite popular with both vegan/non-vegan people. Avocado and I have been talking about visiting Chau Veggie Express for at least 2 years now.. and we finally went this month! Woo!. Chau Veggie Express is located on Victoria Drive, which you wouldn’t expect because it’s not really a hipster-fied area (yet). I ain’t complaining though, because parking is free and easy to find in this area.
Fast, healthy, and fresh. The golden temple soup is amazing and especially enjoyable with rice noodles. Loads of flavourful ingredients such as organic tofu, kale, broccoli, sweet potato, and taro. Generous portions and soup was a light, coconut broth with turmeric. The rice rolls are also wonderfully crunchy with flavours and textures that mix up well. I only wished I had room for dessert. Lovely decor and large tables with self-serve and counter service.
What a hidden gem! Must visit again soon.
Great place, this is one of my favorite vegan joints in Vancouver. I'm in love with the golden temple and coconut shake my top two favorite dishes. Service is good, it can get busy during prime hours.
Staff is always friendly. Food comes in a timely manner and is consistently delicious! It gets busy but they run through the line fairly quickly.
I have to admit that I’m not a veggie lover, and most of the time, I think I’m “allergic” to vegetables! But I really like our second food crawl stop – CHAU Veggie Express. It is one of the most popular restaurants on Victoria Drive, which serves traditional Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine. Most of the dishes here are also gluten-free. They also have a location in Granville Island, but I personally think the new location is way more accessible.
Although I didn't have a full meal at Chau VeggiExpress, I had a glimpse of the quality of their food from tasting their deluxe ice cream. Both our Thai Milk Tea and Coconut Pandan Leaf & Kale capture the essence of the flavours as how they are described. I also appreciate the hip ambiance and friendly staff, and I am looking forward to trying their food for lunch or dinner.
Let me start by saying the FOOD is FANTASTIC. i am not a vegetarian but I always enjoy their golden temple soup and the coconut shake. My last visit left me a little bit disappointed. It's the employees too- good- for -you -of on attitude. Maybe if they up their customer service I would give them a 5 but for now we stick to 3.5
Thanks
Amazing Vietnamese vegetarian food. The best dish by far is the Tropical Rainforest bowl - ask for extra coconut sauce and get the coconut shake...sooo yummy. We would go weekly if it was closer to our place. The service is extremely fast and friendly but the lineup can go out the door sometimes.
If there's a place for 5 star, Chau Veggie Express is one of them. The restaurant has been on our radar for quite some time but we have never had the chance to go there. Boy are we glad we did. As Vietnamese it's very exciting to see fresh and unique take on traditional Vietnamese dishes. Chau Veggie express takes that concept to a whole new level, offering healthy, savoury Vietnamese food with a modern twist. We've tried a lot of other Vietnamese vegetarian place but Chau Veggie Express is definitely at the top. If you want to have a taste of heaven then order the Golden Temple Soup. There is only one word to describe it: "divine". Of course other dishes that we ordered were absolutely amazing too, but the soup stood out the most. Damn it I'm gonna come again and drink it until I know what ingredient that very fragrant aftertaste is from.
This place shows me how tasty vegetarian/vegan food can be. I am neither vegetarian nor vegan but I may become one because of this place! (Jk)
I love how the menu has pictures and thorough descriptions of each item so I knew what I was going to be eating. I got the golden temple soup with quinoa, red sand dunes soup with noodles, and finished it off with dessert (spiced pumpkin tart). The golden temple soup was light, yet had a very nice creamy coconut taste. It had a variety of healthy ingredients that I don't normally eat very much (tofu, beancurd, taro, yam, kale, mushrooms). I liked to mix in the quinoa into the soup, which gives it lots of flavour. The noodle soup was a clearer and less spiced-up option with similar ingredients as well. As with most desserts, my main concern is it being too sweet, however, the pumpkin pie did not disappoint. It was tasty and the whip cream complemented the spice and sweetness well.
I cannot wait to go back to try the other items on the menu - they all look tasty and a much healthier alternative vs. burgers and fries.
The experience was satisfied and efficient. One just need to scan the QR code on the table, pick your dish choice on the menu and everything will be served to you later on. Take out, delivery or dine in, whatever you prefer. Ingredients are of good quality, veggies are really fresh and prepared in a professional way. Recommended!
Excellent place for a healthy and delicious meal! I highly recommend the Golden Temple Soup which is a warm and comforting veggie, noodle, and coconut milk soup. There is also a large selection of beverages and frozen offerings for takeaway (I recommend the soup broths).
Probably one of my favourite places to eat in Vancouver. Every time I go here I leave feeling so good and full but still healthy and good ya know? I would recommend everything on the menu. I literally have gone here straight from the airport after coming home from a long trip several times because it’s just that good and fresh. Rickity Rickshaw bowl is my go to but i’ve tried a lot of things and everything is 10/10
The staff is friendly and nice.
Their food is all vegan and has plenty of beverage and dessert options.
Price range from $15 above for a large plate.
Consistently good! Love the vegan choices. Don’t leave without trying their hand-cut taro chips with their house-made paprika garlic spiced organic tofu dip. The Golden Temple Soup was ‘curry’ good as was the coconut slush!!!!
I absolutely love Chau Veggie Express. They have a fantastic selection of food, and everything is delicious. They have lots of gf options, which is wonderful. Their prices are affordable. They even sell some of their sauces and such for you to take home if you so please. Definitely one of my fave veg places in Vancouver.
Delicious vegetarian pho. My favourite is "Diving for Pearls". The broth is clean with lots of kale and veggies.
Their other items are also good.
Really delicious vegetarian food. The interesting setup because you pay upfront and then help yourself to seat and cutlery etc. The food came out just over 5 minutes after ordering it. I've had the Golden Temple soup twice. I prefer it with a side of rice. There was a good amount of tofu in the bowl but only one bean curd piece.
Overall the food was delicious and the portion was enormous
