Would be five stars of they didn't mess up my siopao order almost every time I'm there to pick some up. Been coming here since I was a kid- my mom would always get asado and/or special siopao. Relatives from across the border used to order a few dozen to take back because they didn't know if anything as good in Seattle. Yes, those buns are that dope.

This is a shop located in Chinatown, near Main Street. They have a bakery near the entrance that serves up steamed buns and various Chinese baked goods, as well as a restaurant. I haven't tried their restaurant, but I've tried their baked goods, including Pork Turnover, Baked BBQ Pork Bun, and Pork, Spicy Pork, Chicken Deluxe, and Chinese Sausage Steamed Buns. All of their food was very good. Their prices are a bit higher than typical Asian places, but considering the quality of their food, I think it's more than worth the cost. This is definitely worth checking out.

Pork Turnover ($1.75):
4/5
This was glutinous rice that was filed with ground pork and has been deep fried. The exterior was nice and crispy. The glutinous rice had a soft, chewy texture and was slightly sweet while the ground pork had a nice savoury flavour. I do wish that there was a bit more of the filling however.

Baked BBQ Pork Bun ($2.25):
4/5
The bun was soft and fluffy; the meat was tender and juicy, and hada mildly sweet flavour. This was a very good amount of filling: I got meat in almost every bite. This may be a bit more expensive than other places, but it's worth it for the quality.

Pork Steamed Bun ($2.50):
4/5
The bun itself had a great fluffy and chewy texture. The pork filling was very tender and juicy. I could have done with a tad more filling inside, but it was still sufficient.

Spicy Pork Steamed Bun ($2.75):
4/5
This was filled with what is essentially BBQ pork. The pork was very tender and juicy, and has a wonderful sweet flavour. There was also a pretty generous amount of filling.

Chinese Sausage Roll ($2.25):
4/5
This was basically an elongated steamed bun that's filled with a Chinese sausage. The bun again was very fluffy, soft, and chewy; the sausage was what you'd get at Asian supermarkets, and is very tender, juicy, and flavourful. I would have liked there to be a slightly higher meat to bun ratio.

Chicken Deluxe Steamed Bun ($3.30):
4/5
Again, the bun was light, fluffy and slightly chewy. This was completely filled with all sorts of meats, including chicken, pork, and salted egg yolk. All of the meats were tender and juicy and flavourful; I particularly enjoyed the egg yolk, which had a great saltiness and oily flavour.

Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 4/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Steamed Buns, Pork Turnover, Baked BBQ Pork Bun

Really yum! So many people and I wish they had told us there is a ticketing system. We did not realized we had to take a ticket and was waiting in the front of the counter for ages.

We had the giant steam bun which was delish, the mochi balls and deep fried sticky rice sesame balls which is yummy!

Didn’t get a chance to sit down but had take out baked goods.
This place was recommended to us by a friend. She said, “if you’re in Van, New Town is THE place to go.”
From egg tarts, pork turnovers, to “gai mei bao,” to red bean pastry... it was delish. The size of the goods were big as well! Will be back!

Bottom line: I really love my ham and macaroni soup. Although it wasn't BT Cafe good, it was decent and different from my usual french toast, eggs, and spam. I really enjoyed my rice noodles as it was different. I ended up buying buns afterwards cause how can you not?. Out the door price: Under $10 with tip

This is our 4th time here with friends and had early dinner. As usual, the food is great. Service was good and a bit pricey but worth it. My favorite is Pork Siomai and Pork Buns. The place is great too. The server will remind I mean force you to give a minimum of 15% tip.

came here during my tourism challenge challenge, trying to do 20 stamps in a day, and for dinner we're grabbing new town bun and definitely something to go for while in china town. the place is packed, please do take a ticket to be in queue for your order. I went for 3/4 buns all different and all were definitely atleast average for the very least. and so i'm pretty happy with my order and didn't break my bank either :D spent less than $15 and i was full :D

The New Town Bakery and Restaurant is on East Pender Street, which runs right through the center of Vancouver’s Chinatown. Its bakery operation occupies the front portion of the premises while the restaurant lies in the rear. There is a very extensive menu available in the restaurant section but the dim sum they offer is what most drew me to the place…

Everyone knows this place, it's been around forever! The steamed BBQ buns are still good, flavour wise and taste wise but I find the BBQ pork too minced, it use to be little nuggets of pork. But the bun itself is still pillowy soft. One bun and some Hong Kong style tea and you have a simple but satisfying cheap lunch. The apple tarts still fly off the shelf and sell out daily. I always but some for my colleagues at our desk and everyone loves them! I'm usually the best colleague ever when I come to work with apple tarts. Better than just doughnuts. I've eaten at the counter and you do feel like you are in Hong Kong however I was the youngest person at the counter and I'm in my 40's! So if you are looking for a retro feel this is the place! I think they use to have the downstairs open for lunch buffet back in my high school days but I'm not sure. Tells you how long this place has survive in Chinatown!

The most amazing fresh baked buns and treats in Chinatown. Try the steamed buns if you're there and bring some cash as they are cash only. You can also buy the frozen buns and steam them at home!
