Very tasty Japanese curry. Everything was very fresh and hot, servers were so nice and all of the items were very fairly priced. The bathrooms and everything else was so clean, as soon as someone was finished or something was dirty they cleaned it right up- you don't see this very often. Definitely coming back to this hidden gem.

Most authentic Japanese curry place downtown. And it’s cheap! My first thought whenever I’m hungry near the Eaton centre is to go here! I’ve been here like 10 times alone because it’s so easy to order and to eat and to enjoy your meal. Order comes out quick too! Great for a quick yummy bite. :) It’s to the point I’ve stopped taking pictures of the food- that’s how often I come here.

The aji furai - the fried mackerel - was absolutely incredible and the highlight of my meal. The batter is so yummy and makes the fish super crunchy even after being partially soaked in the curry. The fish were way larger than I would've expected and super cutely presented as well. Triangles! I would absolutely go back and order the same dish just for the fish alone. I thought the rest of the food was just alright, but the fish... the fish is on another level. Great portions on everything for the price, you can probably get two meals out of it if you're not too hungry. Cash or debit only!

My family was craving some good Japanese curry. We ordered 4 Ebi Hurai Curry, via UberEats. The highlight of the meal was the curry gravy packed separately in a container: thick, rich and flavourful gravy. Four fried tempura shrimp with mayo sauce drizzled on top of sticky rice, a taste of nicely fried shrimp, (some pieces crunchy others not much which was little disappointing). One perfectly hard boil egg. A small side of thinly sliced cabbage to add bit of texture, bitter, fresh contrast. I used to eat here all the time with friends while going to Toronto Metropolitan University. The staff is friendly, quality, tasty, big portion dishes where we usually shared with another person, and nice cozy atmosphere that's what kept us coming back. The prices have increased which is a bumper but eating here you will be satisfied with a yummy and good meal.

The ton katsu and gyu cheese curry was very filling and delicious! The curry is on the heavier side, but still flavourful.

Japanese curry is my favourite food in the entire world. Honestly, the curry here is a bit strong in flavour but I don’t mind it. My go to is the gyu curry. I attached a picture of the katsu curry, which is still pretty good. The sliced eggs are a nice touch! I come here very often and the service is fast and friendly. The prices are also very affordable and reasonable. If you’re in the area, check this out!

I had the gyudon which was plentiful and delicious. They give miso+gyudon in the combo. My friends had katsu curry’s with with karaage and it was crispy and juicy.

Always a delightful experience. My go to place for Ton Katsu Curry, the only thing I order when I come here! The curry is unbeatably scrumptious and flavorful and is always consistent. Katsu is nicely flakey and crispy while the pork remains moist and tender.

This location is very great for a quick ramen trip. They have a good menu with a range of options, but it’s not overwhelming. There’s a small dining area. Food is quick and reasonably priced. You get a lot in your bowl for the actual price you pay. There are a lot of options in the area but I would definitely recommend this one!

Over the past several years, the Japanese Curry market has surprisingly gotten saturated with several namestay brands appearing around the GTA. Gyugyuya differentiates itself by keeping its prices below competitive while delivering a modest but well executed menu. Their speciality seems to be Gyu but they offer your standard fare of other deep-fried options (kaarage, tonkatsu, ika, etc). I personally had the Kaarage Curry and enjoyed the experience. The age old question is if Gyugyuya is as good as Katsuya? The answer to that question is too subjective to answer and would heavily vary depending on the individual. In my opinion, Katsuya's katsu is better executed but Gyugyuya has a more simplistic but stronger tasting curry-based gravy while also being cheaper. Also, Katsuya doesn't offer Gyu or the other myriad of choices Gyugyuya has conjured. I would say it's definitely worth a try to see if its right up your alley.
