OGBG used to be the jewel of the North York area for casual Korean dining. For many years (10+?), I've eaten the most well known Korean dishes at this location but something has unfortunately changed. The food's lost it's "great" taste. By no means this mean it was a bad experience, but it just wasn't the same as it was a few years ago. Service was average and prices have risen. Although the price point is unavoidable, my hope is that they go back to form on what's most important; the food.

Deliciousness! Definitely satisfy any Korean cravings! Best part was the great variety of side dishes. Rice cakes were soft and flavourful. Soup was yummy! No complaints.

I have been eating at this unassuming little Korean restaurant for 8 years. No doubt this is my top choice of Korean food when I'm in the area for lunch. The quality of the food and service has overall stayed consistent over the years, although the prices have unsurprisingly, slightly gone up.

What keeps me going again and again? While the food is typical Korean fare (but quite solid Korean fare), I really like that there are always a TON of side dishes (10 or more during dinner service, I believe). Additionally, I enjoy the homey atmosphere and the privacy of the wooden booths, which I've been pretty lucky to secure usually.

I recommend getting the grilled mackerel that comes with soon tofu (or other soup choices that I can't recall at the moment; $11-12). The seafood pancake is also quite tasty (and huge). I've only had table cooking here once and my memory of that experience was just average. Overall, I recommend checking out this place if you get excited over a large selection of ban chan like me (or not, so not to increase their clientele and wait time for me ;)).

I wanted to try something different. Usually when I visit a Korean restaurant, I will get BiBimBap or Pork Bone Soup. This time, I ordered the JaJangMyun ($8) which is "noodles plus grounded meat in a black bean sauce." The flavour was a bit bland, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My meal came with the usual banchan. My server was cheery and attentive. I look forward to trying something new - hopefully - sometime soon!

-7 degrees outside, snowing and this restaurant is still full =D. 4.5

They brought out a complimentary green onion pancake before we even ordered! Crispy. Mmmm.

We ordered a dish I don't know the name for. It served two and came with rice. It was served on a hot pot burner. Sort of a soup/stew with assorted ingredients like enoki mushrooms, spam, wiener (sausage), onions, green onions, tofu, rice cake (ddukbokki), pork, ramen, cheese, kimchi. Hot and delicious. Cost about $28.

Things to note. The rice was purple rice (no need to upgrade). They served 8 banchan (side dishes) before our meal came. There was kimchi, cucumber kimchi, tofu with spicy sauce, japchae, bean sprouts, sliced cucumber (not sure how this one was cooked), shredded potato and some potato chunks covered in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce. It was my first time trying that last one and it was incredible. Had I not been so full, I would have asked for more.

The menu said this one dish was for 2 people, but we ended up having a bowl of rice and almost half our dish left over. Doggy bagged it! Thrilled. Total damage after tax, before tips was just over $31.

Oh. They give you orange slices when you ask for your bill. They don't have takeout menus. Service was fairly good.

Will definitely be back.

Great restaurant! Fair pricing, tons of good free korean appetizers, good service and damn good Bimbimbop. The only place I know if with better Bimbimbop in the area is bok Chang don soon tofu which is a must visit. Overall good experience here.

Mul Naeng Myun is to die for. I went there during a 3 days trip since some friends recommended it to me. I wasn't sure about it at first since it doesn't look that nice and, in the menu, the tteokbokki didn't seem that legit (I didn't order it anyway).

When the plates arrived, I was in heaven. Everything is terribly delicious, especially the Kam Pong Gi and the SoonDooBoo Jigae. I know Mul Naeng Myun is not for everyone, but even the people with me that aren't that into it liked it. It's the best I've ever had hands down.

I've went to some really nice places during my trip, some fancy restaurant like Momofuku and such, but Oh Geul Bo Geul was definitely the best I've tried during my little Toronto visit.

Yes, the service is not what we're used to in North America... it's Korean style service : you need something, you ring, that's it. I don't mind, it's efficient.

Oh, and if you go there around lunch time, or if you stick to the special and combos, it's the CHEAPEST Korean restaurant I've ever been to.

Legit. I come here regularly and I eat Korean food many times a week.

This place has bad service, yes that is bad service.

However, this place has good, legit food and has the most side dishes of any Korean restaurant hands down.

If you're looking for a good, worth your money Korean meal, this is the place. Don't expect good service.

Lots of banchan!. Banchan, or side dishes, come in many many dishes shortly after placing your order. We had about 10 - which included the essential kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumber, then tofu, potato, seaweed, japchae, pickled radish, pickles, and a few more! Food is not exceptionally delicious - there's nothing that stands out but it is particularly stomach warming to eat spicy comfort food here.
We ordered pork bone soup, a burdock-rich spicy soup, mandu soup, spicy pork, jajangmyun, and among 6 people, there were leftovers!
Service for us was not the best - possibly because we sat in a booth in the side of the store facing the street, where the front door closes when the sun started to set, and the back of the store becomes the main entrance. Servers just couldn't see us when we stood outside from the booth to ask for chopsticks and tea (and yes, there is a service button, but no, pressing it does not aid in a faster service). Hopefully when you go you don't get that booth (:
Price is not expensive, but it isn't cheaper than your average korean restaurant, It's a good deal for what you get! Maybe I'll come here next time I come to north york, maybe I'll go to another one of the many many korean restaurants down the street.

Oh Guel Bo Guel. Great atmosphere, and the food is simple and delicious. Suitable for anyone trying Korean food for the first time. There are many great service dishes and combination dishes that come with soju/beer; great for a night out with your drinking partners.
