I don't know why I am crazy about their foods. The meat is so perfect. The ingredients are just right. The rice is delicious too. I wonder what their recipe is lol
Hamdi Restaurant is this Somalian place by the Airport. The restaurant serves up some pretty good East African food and is the ideal place for anyone who is looking for halal food but is tired of all the Hakka places around. The place itself is much larger than it looks and nicer inside than it is outside. Menu features grilled chicken, beef, and goat dishes.
The Dinners here are roughly $13 and comes with salad and choice of side (rice, spaghetti, or chippati bread). I ordered up the Beef Steak with Spaghetti and also got myself a mango juice as it looked pretty good. The whole meal also comes with a random banana for some reason? Whatever.
The beef steak is pretty good as it's a pair of thinly sliced steak that's been marinated and grilled. No odd spices or anything. It gets tossed with bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. They drop a dump truck pile of spaghetti on your plate and expect you to finish the thing? Took my shame back to the office as I couldn't polish it off. Mango juice is incredible and for $1, you'd be a dumb@$$ to pass it up.
Service was good but the dude is quiet. Don't expect any emotions or anything from this guy. Just some solid work. Though I liked the place, the prices are a bit high considering how cheap food can get around this area. Portion sizes do it some justice though so if you've got the dough, you've got to go.
Oh...and the banana was good too? It's a banana folks...
This was my first experience trying Somali food and I am addicted! I love this bright flavours especially in the rice. the portions were generous. I had the chicken steak which could have used a litte sauce but it was still good. my friend had the chicken stew which was generously seasoned and perfectly cooked. we will definitely be back
Clean food, clean cutlery. Tastes fine. Rice goes down nicely. Thank you.
Delicious Food. I tried their Chicken steak which comes with rice and salad. Rice was tasty and chicken steak was pretty delicious also. And for the price of $11, I'd say it's a rare find.
Staff is friendly. Meat is Halal & the sitting area is large (around 50 people) & nice.
Moreover, you can take the second item as a side order for $4 less.
Great authentic Somali food if you can handle the heat
