This place defines Cantonese comfort food. Service was quick and attentive, while the food were super delicious (at least the ones i have ordered). Can get supet busy during the weekend but totally worth it.
People are saying that the prices have raised, but come on people, they now have a comfortable and clean space to serve you this type of food. Even with the adjustments in price, it is still somewhat reasonable.
What a surprisingly great experience this place turned out to be. My parents had heard that this restaurant made a lot of homestyle and old fashioned Cantonese dishes.
Since we had a table of 7 people, we were able to order a variety of dishes. We ordered 2 vegetable dishes, 2 hot pots, Shanghai Noodles, Wok-fried Sticky Rice, Stuffed Tofu, Shrimp Springrolls, and 5 Spice Squab.
All of the dishes were prepared with great skill and were delicious. The portions were also very generous and the service was friendly.
I will definitely be back!
Best congee in Toronto. Fresh food and very friendly staff bring me back to this place each time. I have recommended it to all my friends as the seafood super bowl congee is the freshest and most delicious item on the menu. I love their meet dishes as well as their fried rice. love the comfy booths and the classic music in the background.
Congee-gratulations!. Rebecca, the social hostess, charmingly welcomed me into a well lit, clean, organized operation. We had a long chat. She bubbles with enthusiasm. Explained how congee is made fresh daily, at 6 a.m. and takes three hours to properly prepare. Wow. No wonder it tastes so good. It is the genuine thing. You KNOW it's gotta be good. Place is a favourite for both elderly and student folk for a place to eat and have lively conversation. NO FUSS, NO MUSS.

Excellent service, good food and good value. Enough of Congee Queen or Congee Time, come here and support the little guy. This is a small Chinese restaurant with an owner who wanders the premises and mingles often with the guests. It's new, so it has the "upscale" decor and "classy" menu that you would associate with the more expensive Congee Queen, but the service is much more personable and it feels less corporate/manufactured.
Food is great. The prices are a dollar or two less than the competitors. The location is quick to get to (just beside 404 and Finch), and parking is usually in abundance because the grocery store next door is already closed.
I come here instead of any of the other Congee competitors now. You should too.
This Congee restaurant has just moved into 1st place for me. This authentic Asian restaurant serves up some amazing fair. The food is hot, fresh and flavorful. The clientele are predominately Asian, as are the staff. The conger is smooth, creamy and full of flavor. I also had the best plate of General Tso chicken every, spicy and savory it was amazing. I had some chinese brocolli with garlic and wine also excellent. I highly recommend this establishment. One thing I have noticed in these restaurants is the service. The Asian wait staff do not come to your table unless you call them, it's a bit weird at first. But just get anyone's attention and they will take your order, get you something you need, or bring your bill. Enjoy!
The quality of the congee was good, with smooth texture and nice taste. There was a proper amount of abalone clams as well as chicken strips, so I got good value for the money.
This is my go to place if I want just simple great congee. My personal favorite is their fish congee! It's truly amazing how you can take something as simple as rice and water and make it delicious! Generally speaking, their food is top notch. I also recommend their crispy chicken which is one of the best I've had in a restaurant.
Business here at this location is booming and you have to arrive early to get a seat. Always order the Singapore-style carrot cake dish, and the Beef Rice Noodles stir Fry where the dishes are well-executed and crisp. It is very convenient to do groceries and No Frills supermarket nearby.
