I really enjoyed the black sesame ice cream! It was really flavourful. However, for L’s portion, it had started to melt really quickly, which was a disappointing part because she detests melted ice cream.
I thought that the waffles were pretty good; they were not too mushy or hard and were easy to eat through with the ice cream and black sesame sauce. It was a lot for one person though and I even gave one waffle heart to my friend.
Ambiance/Decor
This places is aesthetically pleasing, everything is white, there is bright light and a featured wall of green plants. It was busy when I went but we were able to get a Table fairly soon (so plan to call and reserve for a bigger party). The restaurant itself is very clean since you can see the kitchen. The washroom have the black and white theme going on and they were to my suprise not the cleanest.
Food:
If you want those insta perfect pictures, this place is for you. Everything comes looking picture perfect.
Mushroom croissant: it comes with a side of fruit (apple & oranges), kale salad (get the lemon dressing), it was tasty, the mushroom were fresh and I really enjoyed it. However, it wasnt that filling
Cotton Candy Coffee: you get warm milk and coffee in small glass bottles, you pour coffee over cotton candy to make it melt. It was very interesting to watch. However taste wise, it tasted like ordinary Tim Hortons coffee.
Peach Tea: tasted yummy!
Creme Brulee: it comes with 3 different flavors, it looks beautiful. I only enjoyed the custard one the most. The other one is a coffee.
Black Charcoal Sesame Waffle: this is the most interesting looking item. It's heard shaped waffles; comes with a bowl of icecream and a chunky black sauce. The waffle itself wasn't soft, you have to break it off to eat (not a regular waffle ) I'm sure if there are instructions on how to eat it but it wasn't the best.
Mexican beef potato ($6) you get HALF a potato with toppings. It was delcious but not filling.
Latte: Good!
Overall it's a very interesting place to visit to grab dessert, but not for a meal (you have to spend alot of money to get full).
Staff:
Very attentive, and Prompt.
Light Cafe was one of those restaurants that looked stunning on the screen. With a vibrant live wall, whimsical drinks and colourful desserts, the menu defined Instagrammable. Since we don’t eat only with our eyes, I had high hopes that my tastebuds would be equally delighted, and for the most part they were. Light Cafe proved that they were more than just visuals with fresh ingredients and creative combinations.
