In search of Indian food in Toronto? This is the bestest place for Indian food. As I'm indian I found this place perfect for spice lovers. A true Indian taste they have maintained. Visit this place if you miss Indian food. Great ambience as well.
I actually loved chat papri and samosas from this place
Potato roti, chana roti etc. is a kind of a new thing to me.
Tried it and loved it!!!
Ambience is not that great but you can't expect everything at the given price point of food
You can’t beat this place for takeout roti. Have had the butter chicken and eggplant rotis, and they are both absolutely perfect. Amazing value also, a roti is definitely sufficient as a meal with no side or app.
This place makes a pretty good roti and for the most part lives up to the expectation. Spice levels are closer to authentic with even the mild curry being spicy. I tried the chicken korma. I found the ratio of roti/curry/meat to be good and the flavors were nice and strong. I also tried the samosa and pakora but was less impressed. The samosa was made with shredded potato which gave it an odd texture inside and the pakora was just too rubbery and greasy. Both were also so spicy so I could not quite taste them as much. Also we were about to eat in but we changed it to take out due to the incredibly strong smell inside, very poor ventilation and it only took 5 minutes of standing inside and our clothes absorb all the smells. Finally I find their pricing a bit high for such a hole in the wall, $14 for a roti!
This roti is my favourite in Toronto - the roti is so soft and the flavours of the curry are so authentic, it's like eating at your friend's house. There are separate vegan and vegetarian sections, pretty amazing! The butter chicken is super popular too and we overheard half a dozen people ordering that whilst we had dinner. Skip the snacks which are not as tasty once warmed in the microwave, but enjoy one of their iced teas or lassis
I love this place. The butter chicken roti is a weekly treat at our house. The place is pretty rustic but they're quick with the orders and the food is delicious
Really really yummy!!! But all I have to say is that for being more of a takeout joint it's a bit pricey ..$20 for veg curry, dessert & a pop.. But oh so good!!!
I've had Gandhi's stuffed roti's countless times over the years, and now that I no longer live in the city I still find myself craving them.
This is the place to come for mash-up roti, classic Indian flavours but served in a huge stuffed roti (think Caribbean style).
Excellent take out roti. Excellent take out venue for roti. No room to eat inside
Portions are huge and food is moderately priced. Paid $12 for lamb roti
Simple, but GREAT.. Delicious butter chicken wrapped in roti. It's pretty simple, but Ghandi's makes it great. Tender butter chicken, with amazing flavour is satisfying enough, but add a crunchy bread and provide it in a huge portion and you've captured magic for the palate. While I'm sure the other rotis on the menu are good, it'll be difficult for me to stray away from this dish when I return.
For over $10, I feel like I got my money's worth with this dish. I was actually stuffed!
For such a small place, Ghandi's is a nice hidden treasure. There may not be many tables to eat at, but the roti is easy to take away and eat on your own. If you like Indian food, make Ghandi's a stop when in Toronto.
