238 Annette Street, Toronto, ON M6P 1R1 416-604-2321. The Good Neighbour Café at the corner of Annette and Québec Avenue is a pleasant, airy and bright spot to have delicious fair-trade coffee and linger awhile, say, over a Cappuccino and Nut Muffin
The cafe was once a video rental store that was stripped down to a lovely space with big windows, exposed brick, a sign that says The Good Neighbour and a mirror which has pictures tucked into the inside edges. They
also house a lot of different sized tables and chairs, which give the cafe character.
I love the bar by the window mostly because the seats, much like most of the cafe, it is populated by men who are suitable for your next #ManCrushMonday. The patio is wonderful and since it's ecluded in a
residential area it is surrounded by stunning homes and local families walking
their dogs or watching their kids go on a tricycle stroll.
I decided to visit this place after seeing pretty good reviews. Plus I just like finding nice little cafes and enjoying a latte. I came to the cafe at around 6:40pm and I knew they closed at 7. So it was unfortunate but also expected that their pastry shelf was completely empty and already cleaned. The place seemed like a really cool place to chill and just have a friend along, definitely wouldn't want to bring a group and ruin the quietness and serenity. Now the latte, that was really amazing. It came out in a nice, not too hot temperature, not so hot that it burned my hands and mouth like most other places. Foam was nice and velvety, and just enough that I'd have a little taste of foam with every sip. The espresso flavour was not overpowering, just perfect for the amount of milk; it also has a little hint of sweetness in it which makes all the flavour balance out quite nicely. I also like the stamped look on their cup; definitely adds the personal touch.
My new local..... I just popped into this place since they sell my favorite bean. Grabbed a cappuccino to-go and almost doubled back for another the moment I sipped the last drop.
Great lay-out, design. Super friendly (unpretentious) staff, that makes a great brew.
I have yet to hang out for a proper chill time but will certainly return. Would be proud to call this place my local espresso joint.
Best cappacinos in the west end. Awesome light bulbs. Emily is a wicked barista.
I agree with the previous comment that it is full of regulars. Love the look of the place and they have tasty hot chocolate, but I get the feeling that if I sat down to enjoy my drink the hipsters would stare me down.
Great staff and ambience, not mention the best cup of coffee I've had in the city to date.
Fantastic local cafe with an old time feel. Great drinks, food, decor & staff.
What a lovely surprise! I came across this little spot by mistake and I'm glad I did. The decor is nice with many cool design accents (the plates with the faces, the vases in the chilled showcase display). Seating is limited and can get packed very quickly. Both espresso and cappuccino well prepared (intelligentsia coffee). Staff very friendly. The sandwiches are very tasty with unique ingredients. Very refreshing to see this (enough turkey wraps and chicken pesto ciabatta please). Marc Thuet catering delivers everything fresh daily. The one so so comment is the music. It can get very quiet all of a sudden making it a bit weird and uncomfortable. Overall a cool spot that I definitely recommend.
Great location in High park !

A must go to for every coffee lover :)
Also try the chocolate banana bread!!
