Sunset grill is one of the breakfast food chains that has gradually expanded across the GTA. This new location I visited had just newly opened and is very accessible. It is located closely to the 401. However, I had selected an alternative location here to write my review as this location is not yet on Zomato. I was excited to check it out because believe it or not I've never been to Sunset Grill before!😮
I typically go for brekkie after 1 pm. Which some may argue and say that is more like 'brunch'. 😄Today however, I arrived before 12pm. To my surprise it was a full house already! The restaurant itself is quite tiny. The tables were quite closely knitted. I was welcomed by our friendly waitress. She was full of smiles and was most welcoming. We were seated provided with menus and the coffee came, pipping hot and fresh. ☕..
I landed on the grilled chicken breast n eggs with home fries. My friend opted for the eggs n sausage with home fries. Our breakfast arrived in a timely manner and it was impressive as it was quite busy. There were two generous peices of chicken breast and my eggs were made just the way I liked. Sunny side up and the yolks were perfect! Not super runny!. The meal also accompanied 2 thick peices of Texas toast. There is an option for rye or whole wheat. I joked with our waitress, saying I was unhealthy choosing the white bread. She chuckled and said it was yummy though😊😄.
The chicken breast was very good. Lightly seasoned and very juicy. You can tell the quality was good as very minimal seasoning was used. The only thing I didn't like were the home fries. They were merely diced potatoes that were boiled and quickly pan fried. For me personally, I prefer crispy hash brown like fries. The sausages were pretty yummy and satisfying. They were absent from the greasy component generally associated with morning sausages. I really enjoyed them with my toast and eggs. 😊🍳🍴🍞
Overall, it was a good brekkie experience at Sunset Grill. I didn't feel overwhelmed with grease and it felt lighter compared to other places I've been for brekkie. But I kinda missed the grease and being overtly stuffed experience if you ask me. There is just something about old fashion brekkie with lard, fat and grease that I sinfully adore 😄❤!
Called and they were open, New Year's Day ! Fast, friendly service, great coffee-bottemless, had the Canadian omelette and a club sandwich. Good sized portions, served hot and tastey..
Was my first time there, I'm hypercritical and was pleasantly surprised.
