We came here for lunch and had a pretty nice experience. The restuarant is very spacious and comfortable. We ordered a LA galbi bento box and a squid bulgogi bentox box. They had many side dishes and all were tasty. I especially like the sweet potatoes. The squid bulgogi was so so but the LA galbi was unexpectedly good. They actually gave a lot of beef ribs that I had trouble finishing. For the price of the LA galbi lunch special, the portion is definitely worth it. I am surprised by some of the bad reviews but maybe other dishes were not as satisfying. I must say that I am pretty happy with the bento boxes. The only thing is that they don't have pork bulgogi, which is kind of odd. If I'm in the area again for lunch, would defintely come back for the LA galbi box.
Not many Korean restaurants in the area, but this one wasn't bad at all.
Jeon Ju Hyang is a small Korean place in the same plaza as Foodymart. The restaurant is much larger inside than it would appear outside. The menu offers pretty much only Korean food with some slight Japanese and Chinese influences.
They have a special where you can get 2 side entrées with a pop for $10.99. By side entrées, I'm referring to dishes like kimbap, skewers, ramen, etc. They are rather large enough to be an entrée on their own but we're still pretty good. I went for the tuna kimbap with beef skewers. Girlfriend got their spicy pork bone ramen.
The small side dishes that come with every meal were real good. They had my favourites like the seaweed, fish cakes, and Kim chi along with a bunch of others.
The tuna Kimbap was done very well! I loved that it seemed freshly rolled and was packed to the brim. Lots of pieces so it's almost a meal in its own. The beef skewers were OK. It was essentially beef bulgogi on a stick. The pork bone ramen was pretty good as well. It comes piping hit with a nice helping of pork bone and ramen noodles. Much spicier than expected with some spicier ingredients typically found in Chinese dishes.
Good place to grab lunch or dinner. Prices are pretty fair though a bit pricier for some Korean dishes than many other places you will find. Parking is always a pain because of Foodymart. Service was good but more Chinese people than Korean. Regardless, will be back for more kimbap.
Inexpensive, delicious, great service. This place is a bit of an anomaly inasmuch as it is located at Bamburgh Circle but also because it is a Korean restaurant with excellent service and food. Being a huge, dedicated pho fan, it took me a while to finally check this place out and I am very glad that I finally did. The quality and variety of the panchan (side dishes) are great and the quantity and tastes of the mains are delicious-I'd recommend the soon tobu chiagae or, if it's a hot summer day, definitely go with the mul naeng myun . The portions here are generous, the prices are cheap, and the service is great-what more could a foodie ask for?
