This was my first time trying Indian food, and it was great.
The ambience was a little plainer than what I expected, but it was inviting to me. The staff was all Indian and well prepared to answer all the questions I had about Indian food.
I had the tikka masala, naan and a martini. The sauce the chicken was in for the tikka masala was decadent and had mild spices in it. It was a prefect beginner dish since it doesn't overwhelm any one sense. The naan was fantastic since I remember ordering seconds of the bread. I recommend not getting anything alcoholic though, since they're not very good.
Overall, would recommend.
Very nice Indian restaurant, where the chutneys come in varying degrees of mild to spicy. Really nice Kastoori Paneer Tikka, tandoori chicken salad, rogan josh lamb shank, seafood curry and prawn masala. Indian music is softly played, and creates a nice mood in the room. Good service.
Best Indian Food in Toronto HANDS DOWN!. I was in Chutneys last Friday, with my family celebrating my Father's B-day.
And let me just say that my experience here from beginning to end was splendid. From the food, the ambience to the spectacular service, this joint rocks! I frequent this place about once a every couple of weeks and Im always amazed. For me this is a real keeper for ever!
Love Chutneys!!!, great discount on take out. Been to this place couple of times, the food is really good.
They alter it according to the spice level that you like (since my boyfriend is not so good with spicy food)
We do take out couple of times and they have a special deal if you call between 4pm - 5pm, you get a 35% discount on your meal. I think thats great savings
Recommend this place to everyone, you shall not be dissappointed
Though skeptical at first, I've been a huge fan of Indian cuisine ever since my best friend encouraged me to give it a try several years ago. Recently, when I heard about Chutneys and its excellent reputation, not to mention the multiple awards it has received for offering superb and authentic Indian cuisine, I didn't hesitate to pop over during my lunch break.
I settled in and enjoyed the calming ambiance as the seasoned chefs whipped up a delectable chicken wrap, made fresh to order and unlike any other I've ever tasted! Perfectly rolled in freshly made pratha bread, also know as kathi roll, was a delightful mix of succulent chicken and fresh tomato, with a touch of lemon juice and butter, topped with a hint of Fenugaek, an Indian spice that tastes oh so nice. It was nothing short of sensational, down to the very last bite.
Overall, I highly recommend the chicken wrap and the express lunch experience. While flipping through the menu, I noticed that there is also an extensive vegetatian selection and I hear that their lamb is the best around! I encourage you to visit Chutneys for high quality, delicious and healthy Indian cuisine. :)

Pleased. My friend took me here a couple days ago, and it was my first time ever having Indian food! Although i started out skeptical, i really enjoyed my dinner here. The service was fairly quick and everything was clean. Indian food has a really unique taste which i loved.
I had a window seat and enjoyed the goings on in the Kingsway neighbourhood. Very comfortable setting with classical East Indian music playnig unintrusively in the background. The premises looked clean although the men's washroom could use a Reno. The restaurant is medium sized with well placed seating that doesn't feel cramped. The décor is bright and cheery plenty of natural light. I enjoyed a couple of glasses of Classico Chianti, however, I did not appreciate remnants of the cork in my wine. The Chana Masa, Vegetable Semosas and Basmati rice were all tasty and nicely spiced. I chose medium hot and it definitely would not want it hotter than that. The complimentary liqueur was a nice touch. I also had Naan. It cost $50 for one tip included. This was my first time dining at Chutneys and I plan to go back soon.
Loved everything. Great to finally discover somewhere to get Indian on the Kingsway
