Great environment and service. Everyone was polite and helpful. The food was exquisite, especially the naan- couldn’t get enough. Great food, definitely felt like home at karaikudi.
The food was exquisite!! Biriyani was a little spicy but just perfect. Paper Masala was literally 3ft long . It was delicious and so good. There was so much portion that in the end you would feel tired of chewing, but trust me it's really worthwhile. We also ordered Parotta and butter chicken and Paneer. That was also quite delicious. If you are really looking for Good Indian food, this is one must have on the list!!
Best Indian food in Scarborough! The naan is so soft, buttery and delicious. Every dish ordered is a hearty portion as well and reasonably priced!
good service...tried maysore masala dosa, plain ghee dosa, onion tomato uttapam, maidu vada...really nice authentic taste...evrything was good
As their name may give away, Karaikudi Chettinad offers Southern Indian dishes from the Chettinad region. Wikipedia hints to me that the cuisine from this region is known for their use of masala and rice (the grain even used in wraps such as dosais). Hence, it helps narrow down my choices on Karaikudi’s extensive menu (it even includes Hakka-style dishes) to those using these two ingredients.
During lunch, a great meal for one (or even sharing) is a thali, a round platter made up of various dishes incorporating all six flavours. The chicken version ($14.99) is sparse in terms of meat (two deck-of-card sized bone-in pieces), but the curry is lovely – full of flavours and spicy enough while not overwhelming.
Still, it’s the other small bowls that draws me in; urging me to dip and experiment to my heart’s content. By all means, I have no idea what I’m having most of the time, but it’s the different textures, flavourfuls and
Great food with a big menu. The service is good and the staff are ready to help you out.
The Meals plate, Mutton Sukka and Pepper chicken fry are a must try.
Biriyani is more of a Pulav and made in South Andhra/ Tamil Nadu Style.
Such amazing authentic south Indian food! This is a true vegetarian haven but there are lots of meat & seafood options as well. Thalis are served at lunch time but there are lots of "tiffin" selections like idli, channa bhatura, dosa etc for dinner. Kothu roti is solid but nothing beats the paper dosa which is over a metre long!
Been there for first time.. we ordered mutton keema dosa, mutton kadhai and garlic naan. I loved their mutton dosa. It tastes unusual but tasty. Overall good food n nice ambiance.
Went for valentine's dinner place was busy and I manage to get a table.i been here many times mixed experience but this time was good.good . waitress didn't compel us to order which they did before and the food arrived on time and tasted good.i really enjoyed my visit this time even my kids enjoyed the meal
Biriyani and more biriyani, thats all I could talk about when it comes to Karaikudi! Been there multiple times and always ended up having biriyani! Although the quantity is less the quality hasn't been compromised..! Our go to place on a biriyani craving day! My husband has tried the non-veg thali here and liked it too!
PS: 3 biriyani for 2 of us, that's how less the quantity of biriyani served here is!
