After our Saturday morning visit we headed east to do some errands, and we stopped for lunch at Naan & Kabob on Lawrence. This location seats about 50 in a mix of booth seating and open tables. We were the only diners when we arrived just before noon.
The restaurant offers counter service. I picked up a couple of menus at the counter, and we sat down at one of the booths to decide what we were going to have.
SWMBO picked the Tandoori Chicken with Rice ($12.99 including extra $1 for the rice), and I chose the Shish Kabob without rice ($10.99). There was more than enough rice on her plate for the two of us to share. SWMBO’s chicken and my ground beef were tender and moist, and nicely seasoned. Both our meals came with rice, naan and a dipping sauce for the meat. A very filling meal for two.
The ambiance is great and we I had been there for one of our family dinners. I ordered seekh Kebab and it was delicious. Do not forget to have their mango milkshake which is simply fabulous.
I have never tried Afghan cuisine before so I was intrigued when I was invited to visit Naan and Kabob’s new restaurant at Yonge and Bloor Street in Toronto for a tasting. This Afghanistan restaurant, located in the former Spring Rolls premises just south of Yonge Street, already has four
Delicious Afghan food! Large portions but very very filling! Couldn’t move after half a plate! I love qabuli and it was great this location gave chicken korma (curry) on the side of the lamb shank dinner. The n and k special has 3 different kebabs to try from for about $16 before taxes. Great for meat lovers!
Tiny Afghani dine in and take out spot in a cramped strip mall. Seriously, the parking is a tough one as its always packed too.
This restaurant recently had a makeover and I think they have done a great job. It was modern, bright colours that draw you in (especially in comparison to the surrounding restaurants)
Vaziri (tandoori breast with kabob) it was definetly flavorful. It wasn't dry which made it pleasent to eat.
Chicken Tandoori Breast: full of flavour. The rice to chicken ratio is a bit off. They fill the plate with rice (less salad).
Bolanee: I also got the balonee which came out hot and fresh. It was very tasty with the yogurt dipping. I just wish rhey would give more of the yogurt dipping sauce.
Mango lassi smoothie. also known as Lassi I have definitely had better. It was certainly made from a mango pulp can
Pro: Decent price $, tasty food
it is one of those places where you do everything yourself.. get your own water, own take out box. Leave plates at the front when done.
Middle Eastern restaurant located in a plaza that is the ideal spot for one. Naan and Kabob is this small dine-in/takeout spot. They have some pretty cool decor inside and the tables have benches for seats with a countertop for ordering. The menu has mainly kabobs with some wraps and entrees thrown in as well.
Ordered up Tandoori Half Chicken with Rice and Salad. My buddies got the lamb chops with rice. I will say that the lamb portions were pretty miniscule, but they enjoyed it. The Tandoori Half Chicken, on the other hand, was quite a bit of food for $11. With several pieces of chicken layered atop a bed of basmati rice, the meal was quite large. The chicken pieces were dry on the outside, but because it was dark meat, was nice and tender on the inside. The hot sauce that comes on the table is weak, but did add some nice acidity to the meal.
Didn't come for kebabs so I can't comment, but the entrees with the kebobs, rice, naan, and salad are all around $10 so no complaints. The naan bread was nice and they sprinkle some sesame seeds near the middle, but it's pointless. Good food for not so much money.
Great food and ambience. Definitely a nice date spot. The service is a little strange, no waiters/waitresses. You order and pick up in the front (burger priest style). The restaurant could definitely benefit from actually having waiters/hostess/servers. This would make it a gem in Scarborough for sure!
Cute decor. Food is good. Food comes out pretty quickly. Love their spicy tomato sauce. My go to place if I can't decide on what to eat and too lazy to go anywhere far.
Fantastic food. Everything is always tasty and so fresh. I get their half tandoori chicken tasted amazing and they have their own house made sauce which is really good. All of their beef kebabs are really good. And try their rice pudding to call it a day.
