tantalizing buttery pastries and comforting espresso mixed with milk instantly greets you.
Sebaastien’s is busy but not in an overwhelming manner: there’s always someone occupying the handful of tables situated around the windows but I’ve never had to wait. If you’re there for just a sweet and drink, a row of stools by the coffee bar entices you to stay and enjoy the concoctions in their full glory. In fact, I highly recommend you stop and eat the pastry there as certain ones are not nearly as magnificent once suffocated in a paper bag and left sitting around at home.
At the restaurant, the canale ($2.95) has a wonderfully caramelized crust and airy sweet cakey custard centre… the ideal two bites of sweetness with a hot frothy cappuccino. Once they’re brought home and especially if they’re left overnight, they’re still good but becomes chewy.
Go early on Saturday for your best chance at getting one of their French doughnuts ($2.95). Even then, sometimes they can quickly run out when families run in to grab a dozen for the cottage and there won’t be another batch on Sunday. Sebastien’s take on a cronut, these doughnuts are sinfully
I initially walked in to sit down for a coffee and a pastry. I wanted to try and see what the hype was... but the lady at the cashier looked grumpy and gave me just a stare when I walked in, so decided to only pick up some croissants. They were very good, especially the ones with fillings. I might go back if I'm in the neighbourhood again but won't be heading there for the sake of going there, or not planning to sit down to stay.
I do not agree with the reviews below actually. I have had my fair share of every type of pastry in the city from Nadege, Belle & Bobette, Patisserie la Cigogne, Delysees, Michele, Butter Avenue, Nugateau, Thobors etc. But this store has proven to be my favourite, they do not skimp on the filling, it is surely sweet enough unlike the other places that just do a quick brush of sugar that leaves me eating tasteless pastry puff.
I do understand Chinese people do enjoy a lighter less sweet taste, and that I know of cause of my own family lol. But this is definitely the place to get pastries in midtown/ north York.
I love the flakey texture of their danishes, and the filling is very fresh and sweet. They always have enough filling, and the way that their pastry has a buttery rich flavour in every bite is what really made me love this place !
The service has always been quite optimal in my opinion, I've made many pre orders on a weekly basis with the patisserie.
Children however shouldn't be playing with playdo in a restaurant where other people are eating also, the smell would definitely make me not want to eat my food anymore. Just as some places don't allow dogs, they don't allow foreign substances to be played with on their tables. It's totally understandable. Rules are rules.
All I care about is that they have great service and delicious yummy pastries.
Bravo and five stars !!!
Have i entered Paris?. Food 5 Ambiance 4.5 Service 5. I was here like a week ago w. my fam trying to escape the rain! anyways this place is at a corner n something bout it caught my eye so decided to go in. It is pricey but this place the people realli put perfection into their petite treats with a wide assortment n generous portions. We settled into a table near the window as our orders were brought 2 us. The owner very kind n considerate to try n clear the water from inside. I took my time to enjoy mine which was a custard like w. raspberries on top, thankyouu i'll be back, nxt time a novel n latte ^_^
OMG!. The almond croissant is to DIE for....sooooo delicious! Flaky, crispy with a great amount of filling...yum! Too bad I don't live in the city or maybe that is a good thing.
It's a hidden germ! I've been there twice last week as I miss their desserts so much first time after I went there with my hisband. Still tempted to go back every time I feel like dessert!!! They have heavenly taste desserts and I always have a tough time picking which dessert I want most. They are not too pricey, condering the quality of the food and the service they provided. Tips is entirely up to you as you pay as your order at the counter but you wouldn't want to leave them nothing. My favorite dessert place in Toronto so far!!!!! The only drawback is I think they do need a few more cold beverage options. I'm a cold beverage addict and I think it's nice to do that even just for the summer. Juice is not enough, for coffee geek like me.
