Love the lunch specials here! Great value for money and good quality. The service is also very friendly. I had a crying baby the whole time and the servers were not annoyed or wanted to rush me to get out so I didn't disturb other guests. They were patient when I tried to calm my baby and order at the same time. I'll be back again to try the other lunch items.
My friend suggested we try this restaurant last night and I am glad she did. A small Japanese restaurant that serves fresh and unique ingredients. They customized a tasting menu for our group of 8. For appetizers they give you a miso soup, seaweed salad, and fried blowfish (very tasty). First course was tuna served in ponzu sauce. It was nothing special. Then they served sashimi which was thick cuts of fresh fish. They even included toro. A couple of highlights was the uni and toro wrapped in seabass along with foie grass sushi (really enjoyed it but a tad salty that night). They also ordered mackerel and sushi a la carte, bbq squid, udon with shrimp tempura, and chicken skewers which were all very good. We hope they keep up the quality and they will visit soon.
A la carte ordering, good value. This place must have taken on new ownership since the previous reviews in 2014. It's owned by the same folks that used to run Yamamoto Japanese Cuisine in Market Village (before it became an AYCE place).
Dinner is no longer AYCE, but consists of a small menu in addition to some daily specials on chalkboards. The unfortunate thing is that this restaurant calls itself fine dining, but I feel like it's not quite classy enough for that. It's a small and intimate place that thrives on eating whatever is fresh. Raymond, the manager, is a very helpful guide in this process.
Personally, I value a place with a small menu because it means that whatever they do, they have to do it well. I did find the menu a bit confusing since there are no descriptions of menu items. Sushi, sashimi, and rolls are where this place really shines. I highly recommend the botan ebi and then you can ask them to deep fry the shrimp head so you can gnaw on the crunchy legs. It's reminiscent of soft shell crab. Their grilled items are okay, but probably won't blow your mind away. The ramen and donburi are a great steal at $10 a piece. Their ice cream variety includes black sesame, in addition to the regular green tea/vanilla/mango variety. Unfortunately, ice cream is your only dessert option.
The place is quite small so a reservation is recommended, even if you're a small group.
I think this place offers a great alternative to those of us who dislike AYCE food quality, especially with their off-menu items (see chalk board!) It's a small and intimate place where the servers are knowledgable about the food.
