Went here tried the Jerk sandwich
Now I'm on here recommending the jerk sandwich!
Soo basic but soo good ..nice soft bun with very tender jerk chicken jammed in it!
I live next door to this gem and can smell their BBQ every day from my balcony. I have had the Curry Chicken, Curry Goat Roti, Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Oxtail, beef patties, fish cakes, and more! Can get a bit hectic inside. They need more ppl at the customer service desk. Worth the wait. Go there.
The only place I know of to get great jerk pork in the city. Amazing. Living across the river, I wish they had delivery more often (called a few times and they had no driver).
A favourite. You can't go wrong at Mr. Jerk. The food is great and it is super cheap, the best Caribbean food in the city. I come back again and again and there is always a lineup. No surprise there. The pork jerk dinner is a personal favourite and the gravy is particularly good.
Customizable order. Everything tastes delicious. I have had the curry goat, jerk pork, oxtail stew, and fried plantains. The plantains are more moist than other places I've tried.
AND I like it that they let you purchase the items individually (e.g. $2 of jerk pork, $2 of curry goat) - instead of making you buy a combo plate with rice. Sometimes i just want meat!
The reason why we come back for this is the delicious peppercorn gravy... SPICY, just the way i like it. I was pretty disappointed with the pork this time, it was pretty dry. The first time juice was dripping from the meat. I guess this place is a hit & miss. I think you need to come here when its packed, suggest trying lunch time.
This is not a place to visit if you are looking for a fancy restaurant where to sit and chat. I got a juicy jerk chicken with rice and gravy and it was delicious! It's not the best in town and I wouldn't recommend to come here if you live far from Wellesley Street.
Mr. Jerk has the best Jerk pork anywhere downtown… bar none. They serve it up as a dinner or a sandwich. They also have daily lunch specials include a main with dirty rice and a pop.
