I really enjoy Ramen and this place is very cute (bit small and dark, but I love the cute mascot!). Unfortunately, the food was just OK. Not bad, but a tad bland. Bowl is super cute though and the portion was generous/filling.
Price is reasonable for a meal. However, I wouldn't return, I would try somewhere else first even for a few bucks more. But worth a visit if you're a Ramen fan!
This was an Awesome ramen place which was perfect on a cold day and exactly what was needed.. we also got the port dumplings which were just as good... Highly Reccomend this place
The black garlicky ramen with pork belly, sea salt and thick noodles was so good! The broth was very flavourful and the ramen was filling. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Overall, great ramen for a good price point.
Decent ramen but not as good as Kinto. Noodles were ok. The place is more spacious than others and staff were nice and attentive. Will come back if I am in the area craving ramen.
I ordered the special which came with minced pork, red broth, miso seasoning, bean sprouts, mushroom, and a soft boiled egg. The broth was creamier than other ramen I've had in the past. I would have like more spice/heat. The noodles were also not the best I've had in texture and taste. I enjoyed the minced pork a lot. I added great flavour to the broth. Over-all, not my favourite ramen bowl but definitely enjoyed it and would return!
Came here for lunch and tried out their teriyaki chicken rice bowl and their spicy miso ramen with pork shoulder and thick noodles. I was plesantly suprised by their teriyaky chicken, was like fried chicken nuggets, but no breading, with a not too sweet teriyaki sauce. I also enjoyed their ramen, although their broth is very thick/cream, not very traditional, and was a bit hard to finish because it was so heavy. Noodles and the fixings were very good.
The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated, with brick walls, wooden tables, and chandeliers. Service was friendly and effective.
Tohenboku opened their second Toronto location near Yonge and Eglinton this summer. Tomo’s second home is similar in size to their Queen St. location with a dinner menu upgrade that includes izakaya dishes. My visit however, was during lunch and only their ramen menu was offered.
It's not too long ago that Japanese Ramen became all the rave in Toronto's food scene and ramen specialty restaurants were popping up within the city. Last winter, we got a taste of Touhenboku Ramen on Queen St that differentiated themselves by offering chicken broth ( read review ). We had a great experience there with their various offerings and when the news came that a second location was opening at Yonge & Eglinton, I was more than excited to try it! The second location features their regular ramen menu (including rice appetizers & dessert) but what makes this location special is that they also feature an Izakaya Menu for dinner. For my visit at lunch on a weekday, I stuck to the regular menu: Korokke ($5.50) - crispy potato & cream cakes rolled in panko Gyoza ($5.50) - fried pork dumpling with dipping sauce Kara-age Don ($4.50) - fried chicken pieces served on a bed of steaming hot rice with housemade sauce & scallions Spicy Ramen ($10.50) in sea salt base broth, pork belly & th
Perfect addition to the 'hood! Excellent broth - I had the spicy option with Pork Belly. The noodles were cooked perfectly as was the egg. FYI they close from 2-530pm.
