A little cafe in bloor west village with some good surprises.. I Had cappuchino and tiramisu.. and checked their other desserts.. a bit pricey but tasty..
This is a quaint little cafe in Bloor West Village that feels like a hidden gem amongst everything else.
There's not much inside in terms of ambience. There is very little seating, but you can see most of the baked goods being created right in front of you, which assures anyone that they are getting the best quality.
I had one of the bagel breakfast sandwiches. It is better than Tim Hortons, but not by much. It is very easy to forget this sandwich since there is nothing really special about it. The cookies they bake are leave a better imprint on my memory since they were the perfect combination of sweet, crunchy and chewy.
Would recommend the baked goods
Great sandwiches and pastries!. Always-busy Bread & Roses makes a brilliant AAA grade roast beef and horseradish sandwich on freshly-made multigrain bread. Their not-too-sweet apple cinnamon turnover is a great way to end your meal.
The best deal in town. Great bakery and sandwiches at low low prices. Simple classic look and feel with so many locals as regulars...that always tells you something.
My everyday spot. I love this place. The sandwiches are hearty and fresh. The soup is super tasty and inexpensive. The girls who work there are lovely. The place inside could use a little updating, but it's still great. (except for the grumpy old italian man who is there each day and likes to harrass people - but it's really just amusing). Love it.
Great sandwiches. Nice, thick, fresh baked bread. Quick healthy lunch.

Bread and Roses is a good place in Bloor West Village to grab a sandwich. Their veggie sandwich options include avocado and swiss, egg, breakfast bagel, and vegetables. Their sandwiches are decent but don't taste much different than what I'd make at home. Even the bread usually leaves me underwhelmed. Their salads aren't worth ordering for the same reason. However, their bite-sized cookies, at less than a dollar, are worth the trip.
The restaurant itself is very functional and doesn't have a lot of personality. I never quite feel relaxed having lunch here. I wish that they were more similar to the Annex's Sky Blue Sky. Still, I find myself sitting in the back of Bread and Roses at least once a month.
A must-visit when you're in Bloor West Village.I've been a customer for a few years now, and their staff is always friendly. Yummy treats for folks of all ages - the clientele mostly local stay-at-home moms with their kids, local senior citizens and high school kids (during school year). Their freshly baked breads are fantastic and if you order a sandwich to stay in to eat, they will cut you nice, thick, slices from their fresh loaves. It gets a little busy during peak times (lunchtime, especially). There is lots of seating room inside and in the back, and a cute patio with bistro tables outside in the summer. Prices are what you would expect from Bloor West Village. Stop in for a treat. You'll like it. And yes, the cookies are great!
Usually I hate coconut in desserts, but the Macaroons these guys have, has made me question my stance. Their cookies are delicious as well, priced at $0.70 each, and the macaroon tarts for $1.25. They have a great selections of baked goods, and double chocolate cupcakes are to die for. The lady behind the counter was very sweet, when she saw I was debating whether I should get Macadamia Nut cookie, she offered me one to taste and to help make up my mind. It sure did help. they were so good!
