I am mexican and i have been trying different new mexican restaurants and big disappointments because to find a place really care about presenting a decent food is hard, i really like it!, the time was good, the tortillas were hand made and delicious the guacamole was very tasty with a light hint of hot excellent for Canadians, and the tacos were great, i will come back definitely again to try more!!! Congratulations guys please do not decrease quality once you are famous!!!

Home-made tortillas and the best quesadillas in the city. I'm from Mexico and I have to say that Campechano is a great place to eat Mexican food.

Good but the room is a little rough around the edges. The food and drinks are quite good and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed the Paloma and Amaretto Sour.  Any problems lie with the setting. The back room has communal tables with uncomfortable benches. My dinner mate fell onto the floor and bruised his arm when the bench collapsed because of a loose leg. The staff member resolved the problem by moving the bench to another table, and later, it was used to seat people. Tick Tick. We were repeatedly told that we could hang our coats on the wall hooks provided. Doing so would have had some people sitting with coats dangling on their heads and shoulders. Space perception problems perhaps. Overall, I would recommend;but make a reservation and ask for tables with chairs!

Love the colorful murals with the school chairs with the open kitchen at the front... all the yummy smell coming through is just amazing. It's quite spacious with more seating at the back room and patio. They have a rather small menu which I love, with only two appetizers, 2 sopes, 9 tacos and 1 dessert to choose from.

Almost impossible to pick our favourite dish :) Three of us had dinner here tonight. LOVED the atmosphere, as it really did quickly feel like we were in some small eatery in some small Mexican town. Fabulous service. Great vibe. Happening, but not too loud to talk. We ordered one of everything on the menu, pretty much, and split it all up. Nothing disappointed. Drinks, too, were fabulous. Solid margaritas, great sangria, and a lovely non-alcoholic hibiscus drink. We thought the value was really amazing. For once we ate really well without the ridiculous prices that are plaguing some great Toronto eateries. Well done, Campechano!

After an event, 5 of my friends and I headed over to relatively new Campechano. It’s tiny space, so we had to wait around 20 minutes for a seat, even at close to 9pm! I don’t recommend this place if you are a picky eater or vegetarian (some of my friends were) because they have a very tiny menu of 9 tacos, 1 guacamole and 1 dessert.

I began with an order of guacomole. It was fairly simple to the eye but there was definitely an unexpected heat. The first taco I had was the Tinga de Pollo, a morita chili stewed chicken breast with a green salsa on top.

One of my favourites was the Prescano, a beautiful deep fried branzino taco with a hint of chipotle. The Bistec, a sirloin cap taco with onion, grilled green pepper and crunchy flakes of some sort was my favourite taco texturally.

Lastly, I went for the Chorizo (pork sausage) with potato. I was completely stuffed at this point (I don’t recommend that one person actually eat four tacos).Somehow I still had room for their delicious flan with caramel drizzle. I wanted to lick the plate.

Oh yeah all this I washed down with a Paloma which was tequila, bitters and Squirt. They were generous with the alcohol, so definitely felt a little funny half way through.

I enjoyed all my taco selections. I found the meat very tender and spice not for the faint of heart. Everything was super flavourful and is definitely wroth the visit if you’re in the mood for cozy tacos.

Let me tell you guys about this small little spot at Portland & Adelaide that changed my life on a Friday afternoon.

Campechano understands tacos. And flan.

Must try:
- Bistec Taco: sirloin with grilled green peppers and onions
- Costilla Taco (spicy): rib eye
- Campechano: mixture of bistec and chorizo with chicharron
- Flan: $4 for the most delicious caramel drizzles flan to end it off.

All I can say is, the meat here is cooked with love and care and you taste it with every bite. Make the plan and go but be prepared to wait for seating if it's busy - it's worth the wait.

What a charming little place for tasty tacos. The menu may be small but the flavours are huge. You'll find so much personality here...in the food, staff and the decor.
I ordered the guac and chips (nice big chunks of avo, and the chips were super crispy and not greasy for a change), the Chicken Tinga (tasty chicken strips with a bit of a bite), Pescado (deep fried fish with coleslaw), and the Shrimp (with pinapple chunks-yum!). All tacos were mouthwatering and the Chicken Tinga was my favourite.
Come with an appetite as they are pretty generous with the filling. I would recommend 2 tacos per person if you're there for lunch. The service is very friendly and approachable. I will definitely be back soon.

Tucked away at the corner of Adelaide and Portland, Campechano Taqueria (@campechano) is a small and cozy restaurant that quietly opened its doors to the public a few months ago. They have taken up for the former Sadie’s diner location and is now serving their take of a Mexican fare. Their menu is simple and easy to read – offering 7 tacos, 4 Quesadillas and 1 dessert. I knew in a matter of seconds what I wanted to indulge in.
