The pork belly ramen is to die for! I'm of course not a vegetarian but a friend ordered the veg ramen and it was quite good. Big fan of the matcha and black sesame ice cream as well. Will keep coming here!

Mobbed! Speaks for itself, people love ramen. Great broth, pork belly and noodles that keep you going till mid nite. No wonder students come here when cramming for exams!

How good is it to be back in Toronto? All the eating. Yay! One of my first meals on my second round was Kinton Ramen on Church Street. Last Sunday was Pride parade of course, and I came across this store on my stroll back southwards. It’s also right next to one of my favourites from my last trip, Kinka Izakaya. Does Kinton Ramen match the greatness of its neighbour? Read on and find out!

A very decent ramen place in downtown. I ordered the pork miso ramen - portion was good, broth was rich, chashu was very flavorful but could be more tender. The option of chicken ramen is also an interesting addition for those who cannot stomach all the pork. Sides come at a reasonable cost and there is a variety of tasty appetizers that can also be turned into a combo. The staff shouts at you izakaya-style when you enter and exit the restaurant. Inside it's spacious and clean and the wait staff was super friendly and attentive. Overall would highly recommend.

I learned about Kinton Ramen from the show You Gotta Eat Here. It looked delicious so we decided to give it a try during our short trip to Toronto. They had a deal for $19 for a three course meal so I made sure to try it. If you just order ramen in cost from $10-12. The staff shout something in Japanese when a guest enters or leaves the restaurant which keeps it lively and interactive in the restaurant. The ramen restaurant on Church street is for smaller groups (tables are for 2-3 people) but they have a sister restaurant next door for big groups.First course was karage and gyoza. Karage is the fried chicken in a ball which was crispy and juicy. The gyoza was fried and just as tasty. I chose the pork miso ramen. Ramen comes in a large bowl and servings are very generous. I could not finish the bowl. The broth was flavourful. If you finish a bowl, the staff asks if they have a picture taken with you and the empty bowl to post on their Instagram. I thought that was fun. Almost the entire staff takes one photo with you and they do funny poses. For dessert, I had green tea matcha cheesecake which was light and not too sweet. I'd go back again and try their other dishes.

I really enjoyed the ramen here & have recommended it to friends. I ordered the vegetarian ramen, which is rarely done right ,and it turned out to fulfill every expectation I had of it.

Kinton Ramen is a popular chain of ramen restaurants with five locations in Ontario. They recently opened their fifth location adjacent to Kinka Izakaya on Church St. I was invited to a media tasting earlier last month, and had the chance to try an appetizer and ramen of my choice with a friend. I have been to Kinton Ramen several times before the media tasting, so I was pretty well aware of their food. What I enjoy about Kinton Ramen is their consistency of their food products, and portion sizes. The fifth location of Kinton Ramen features their signature block designs with high table-top and wooden tables. However, in contrast to some of the other locations, this location has large windows that allow natural light to shine into the restaurant.

Kinton Ramen allows the diners to customize their bowl of their ramen to their liking by providing various options. It's great as people do have different preferences and tastes.

Step 1 (broth) - select from pork ramen or chicken ramen
Step 2 (flavour) - choose from original, shoyu, miso, spicy garlic, or extra pork
Step 3 (noodle) - choose from thick or thin
Step 4 (meat) - choose from pork or chicken (additional meat is +$2.50)
Step 5 (additional toppings) - choose from a variety of toppings such as sweet corn, nori, seaweed, scallions, Swiss cheese, and more.

I opted for their Original Pork Ramen ($10.99) - sea salt, bean sprouts, scallions, nori, seasoned egg with corn (+$1) and seaweed (+$1). This is my usual ramen order whenever I eat at Kinton Ramen, as I do like lighter broths. The broth is also rich in collagen, and one can order it light, regular, or rich. Aside from the broth, I believe that the pork belly is also an important component of a bowl of ramen. The pork belly here was slightly blowtorch to give it a nice charred finish. Overall, it was a very satisfying bowl of ramen on the cool evening.

Back when Kinka Izakaya first opened, waiting an hour or two for a table was a regular part of dinner. While in line, people often ducked into the small store next door to grab a bite to tide them over. Now, Kinka’s neighbour has turned into a draw of it’s own, the 5th location of Kinton Ramen. I was invited to drop by the latest franchise addition to slurp up a bowl of noodles.

"Sipping on Calpico (light in colour, flavour and sweetness), we felt submerged in Japanese culture. Also, their homemade lemonade was thirst drenching, with lemon fibre floating, it was a simple yet impressive drink."“The egg addition to both dishes was our best decision that day – it was done medium and upon biting, some of it coloured the soup. As per the waitresses’ suggestion, we had a side of cheese. It was graded, Swiss cheese with a slightly bitter undertone which made the dish a bit more wholesome, as the chicken breast was quite lean. The slice of meat was, none-the-less, tender and light."

Just a few bites from our full experience..
