My first Thai food and I love this place! Every second Friday Yum Yum and so healthy.
Really yummy food and really friendly staff. I'll be back.
Unassuming, great service, FANTASTIC food. Authentic, fresh. The mango salad is the best. Have never had a less than great experience here. We go about every two weeks for a brunch. I am not kidding, this is a great little place.
I'm a big fan of the original location. Complete hole in the wall, but days I'm craving Thai and don't want to go downtown, this is the next best thing. The curry is runnier than I like but khao soi is a personal favorite. Green curry and pad Thai aren't bad either. Good sized meal, priced appropriately. Go, if you can't make it to Khao San Road or Pai
If you live on the east end and craving some thai, this place can certainly satisfy your cravings. You can tell they use real ingredients and none of those artificial sauces/colouring you find in your pad thai sometimes.
I ordered the pad kee mao for late lunch. Lunch specials are from 12-3PM and very affordable. Pad kee mao was spicy and tasty. Ingredients were fresh. Service was decent. Will come back to try the other items on the menu.
Rejoice my fellow Scarberians! Great proper Thai food at last!
No ketchup in this pad thai. Jatujak rocks all the classics. I've been here a few times now and the food has been consistently fresh and very good. It is a small location and lacks any real ambience (their second restaurant on Victoria Park is much better in this respect), but the food makes a visit worth it. I will admit that I wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger though.
When I don't feel like trekking all the way downtown for real Thai food, Jatujak is the place to go.
If you like authentic Thai cuisine (the food you get in the streets in Bangkok) this is the place to eat!! Incredible food at great prices! Enjoy this experience.
I work in the Danforth and Birchmount area which is in a food abyss positioned between "The Danforth" and the Beach . As a result, lunch options are typically limited to the cafeteria. Once in a while it is feasible to pop out for lunch and Jatujak is a good option given it's convenient location and the fact it is not something like Lick's or Wimpy's.
I drove by it numerous times and was keen to stop in given it's promise of Thai street food. It's a small place with a small one page menu compared to the novels a lot of other Thai places hand you upon arrival. They have a half dozen lunch specials featuring many Thai favorites.
Tom Yum is a benchmark I use to compare Thai places. The only annoyance was the fact that they didn't have a lunch portion so I was left having to order a large bowl for a reasonable $6. It was definitely in the top third of soups that I've had. It was spicy, vibrant and chunky and filled with intense Thai flavour.
I had the pad kee moa lunch special which came with a spring roll, salad and a drink for around $10.50. Like the soup, strong Thai flavours were at the forefront of the entire lunch. The noodles were a little on the oily side but overall I was impressed.
I found the service little crusty and the ambiance a bit lame but all in all a good experience. So....4 for food and 3 for the rest.
Wonderful Surprise... Just got back from having dinner here. We ate in as some other posters complained of delivery. It was wonderful food. The ambiance is lack lustre, but the service and the food more than make up for it. Being Easter Sunday, we thought it might be closed, or at the very least not too busy. It wasn't busy with eat-in diners but the take out and delivery was super busy.
Worth a try.
Some of the best Thai food in GTA. The food here is awesome!! If you want authentic tasting Thai food come to this restaurant. Their curry is among the best I've had in Toronto. While their restaurant doesn't provide much ambiance I recommend dining in over getting delivery, can't explain it but we've found their food better when eating at the restaurant.
The food is really good!. I have now been to Jatujak a few times and can say the food is really good! I have tried quite a few items and there has not been one I did not like. I found there fish chips to be light but not oily. There cold and hot vegetable spring rolls as good as any you'll find. I particularly liked the Tom Yum soup (lemon grass soup with tomato and onion). It has the perfect blend of spices and flavour. The mango salad was nicely done with the right amount of nuts and most importantly, the mangoes were not very sour, just tangy and sweet. The pineapple fried rice was nice as was the Jatujak pad thai. I am also a fan of Gaeng masman chicken Khoa soi beef curries. This is a gem of a place, I will definitely be going more often!
Has potential. New thai restaurant in a revolving door location, which has seen many restaurants come and go. This place however seems to have some potential. The pad thai was pretty good, not ketchupy like many places. Nice amount of chicken and tofu. The pineapple fried rice with shrimp needs some work. Good presentation but unfortunately the shrimp didn't taste good (similar bad taste to shrimp imported from India we bought once). The seasoning of the fried rice really needs improvement. They use fresh pineapple, which is great, but the frozen peas, corn and beans are less than stellar.
