You probably won't find any real pirates during your visit here but what you will you find is their food is absolute GOLD! Captain's Boil in Newmarket combines a fun and playful way for everyone to enjoy their food. The seafood is brought out to your table in clear bags with your choice of sauce. I highly recommend their Captain's Boil sauce! Bursting with flavour, it literally keeps you reaching back into the bag for more mussels, shrimps, and lobster! If seafood isn't your kind of treasure, don't worry because they provide alternative options as well. The chicken wings are great for sharing. For dessert, you'll walk the plank to get a taste of their rainbow ice cream!
It really is a complete dining experience that includes friendly staff, quick service, within a clean environment!
This place was awesome! Loved the concept of picking out your seafood, spices, and whatever else you want to put in your bag! And best of all... it was delicious! We need one of these in Philadelphia!
Not only was the food amazing (I recommend getting all three flavours mixed together), the restaurant had a very warm and fun atmosphere - most enjoyable in a group. I also found the staff to be quite helpful.
Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of the plastic bags, and the wait times can be quite long, but that's typically the case for any restaurant that's worth going to.
Went here for the first time as I was in the city on business and they were right across the street. Very glad I convinced my associates to cave and go. The idea is novel and the seafood was very fresh. I liked the fact that you got to customize what you wanted in your boil and it was a personal amount. Having to break open a crab with bare hands was a bit of a challenge as there are no real utensils to speak of. The server was new but was also very informative for us and her recommend on the spice levels was appreciated (they're about 1 level higer than you would expect - be warned lol) and we managed to get a great flavour without the spice killing the flavour balance. Definitely a unique dining experience and something to remember.
Food was really good, the service was very informative as I was a first timer. The only thing that was a little disappointing is all the drinks (that don't come in a can) are served in plastic cups. It brings down the experience not to mention, that is a lot of recycling/waste and I'm not an environmentalist by any means. In fact, seeing all the plastic cups made me appreciate the glassware restaurants normally serve.
When Captain’s Boil opened their first location, just blocks away from my condo, I was eager to try out the concept but weary of the long wait. In just a year, Captain’s Boil has opened 3 more locations with 6 more GTA addresses in the works. I heard that lines at the downtown location were more manageable and was able to get a reservation with a bigger party.
I have been here several times with my Bf and it usually costs us 70. The food is good and service is great.nice place to eat seafood. By the way, I love the mussel.
A short haiku review from me to you. Hope you enjoy it!

Great flavour and spice on food.
Pricey; good options.

I seen a lot of comments saying the service is bad, that wasn't my experience. The food itself is good but the whole bag thing was just sloppy n weird. I got the shrimp and I had to throw my peels from the shrimp back in the same bag n look for the shrimp I haven't ate in the same bag. They say on the menu add corn for 1$ extra what they don't tell you is its like a quarter of a piece of corn for a dollar. The taste was good everything looked. Lean staff was friendly and nice.
It was an interesting place with new ideas.
There are good number of seafood to pick from. we are expected to be a messy eater. The bib drawings are so cute. It is one of a kind restaurant the you cant get elsewhere within toronto. I give extra .5 for that.
Otherwise, I think the food is just average. Sauces are very very very buttery. The food taste good. I do wish they have more interesting sauces to pick from.
The services are great. it is always pack with people, and yet, servers and waiters can still able to keep that smile on their face. :)
I have been planning to eat ribs while in Toronto but happened upon this joint by accident. I loved the sausages and corn mixed in our seafood bags (we ordered mussels, shrimps and crabs). The fries were also awesome!
We ordered 2lbs mussels, 1lb crabs, 2 lbs shrimp and some drinks and bill came out to less than CAD 100. I think it's good value for money. It also didn't hurt that we got 10% discount on total food bill (i think this branch was newly opened).
Sorry, no food photos as it was difficult to take photos once you start digging into those bags!
Definitely a first here in Toronto. We ordered their shrimp, crab legs, and mussels. The captain's Boil seasoning was amazing! Pretty spicy for me but it was worth it. It's such a hassle to peel the shells for the crab and shrimp. While they provide you with a bib, it still gets messy so don't dress up.
