Summerlicious makes me go to the other end of the city for some eats and brews, but it's so worth it. Liberty Common was my second stop this year. Close to Exhibition Station, this was easy to find. On the lower level of the building, they have a large dining/bar area and a newly opened patio. . When I arrived, I asked for the patio and they said no, but I could see empty tables. My friend arrived and asked for the patio, she was adamant about it, so they cleaned one for us. There was no patio when I made the reservation or I would've asked!
I ordered the Commoner’s Smoke Plate. This was an assortment of their main meats and sides on a metal tray. This included Canadian brisket, spareribs, and potato salad (and cheese scone and some coleslaw). There was also a BR Traditional Ale BBQ sauce. This was neat because in addition to the container of sauce, there was a full mini bottle of “Rhine stone Cowboy BBQ Hot Sauce” that was a souvenir to take home.
Gord and I had supper this evening at Liberty Commons in Liberty Village ... it opened just five days ago.
Big Rock has a beer store if you want to pop in and buy beer.
Gord started with a Scotch Egg. He loves Scotch Eggs and said it was very good and he'd get it again. I ordered Jerk Chicken for my main. It was really good and I'd get it again. Gord ordered Beef Brisket. He said it was really good and he'd get it again. I tried a piece and the beef was really tender and I liked the smokey taste. Gord loves rice pudding and ordered some for dessert. I had a couple spoonfuls and it was fun.
Sarah was our server and she took good care of us.
We'll be back!
