This is me and my sons go to spot on the Danforth. The service and food never disappoints. If you’re around for brunch or lunch on a weekend, I highly recommend the Eggs Madeline (Benedict) with smoked salmon and spinach!
I love this place. It's always fantastic! Great service and friendly staff. I highly recommend the seafood linguini. It's to die for. I had it the other night paired with a gorgeous, chilled glass of dry Angel's Gate rose. Magnifique!
I like this place and there is no doubt that the neighbourhood needs places like it. That said, they have to get better at some things. We had a reservation for 7 last night and arrived at 6:57 and staff seemed surprised that we were early and asked us to wait at the bar. Sadly, they seem to take reservations at the bar as well and the four of us had about a 12 inch space to wait in. It was 7:40 before a table became free and it was almost 8pm by the time we ordered. At this pont we were advised that they were out of Mussels as well as all of the specials except one piece of fish. Some advice - never make a customer with a reservation wait for almost an hour for a table. Always keep a hearty supply of things that are on your regular menu. On a Saturday night, make sure you have tons of the items on your specials menu. Finally, don't get too excited by your early success. Yes, there is an appetite for trendy gastropubs in the area, but the area is changing quickly and more places will be opening. Poor experiences like this on will have your customers opting for places other than yours.
I'm pretty excited by what I see happening up on the Danforth right now and even though it's not exactly in my neighbourhood, it's a hop, skip and a jump from the wings and fries of the Upper Beach, so I'll take it. One of the newest restaurants to open up this year is Local 1794 at... you guessed it, 1794 Danforth, between Coxwell and Woodbine. It's billed as a Gastropub and although I am kind of hating that term, I guess it describes it pretty well. The food is much nicer than you would expect at a pub and much better than most of the restaurants you will find this far east.
Fabulous addition to the ever improving strip of Danforth Between Woodbine and Greenwood. I have been a few times now and the food has been consistently delicious, the drinks are great, the space is beautiful and the service is good. Now that the weather has warmed up, they slide up the entire front window and I see that they are building a patio.
They make a butter chicken poutine that will make you a very happy camper, the crab cakes are really delicious - crispy, not greasy and FULL of crab. The carpaccio is also great as is the charcuterie board.
Great new spot in the neighborhood that is literally under a 100 steps from my front door. Great food, amazing atmosphere (feels like your in a downtown restaurant), friendly staff and Lots of drink options. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Great new spot in the neighbourhood. Look/feels a lot like Morgan's just down the street. They have 20+ beers on tap, mostly standard options you'd find in any number of bars, but they did have a Beau's guest tap with a milk stout I hadn't yet tried. It was tasty! Also had the richest grilled cheese I've eaten in a long time. Very good, but definitely not a lighter option!
