We stopped in for a quick brunch. Service was friendly and attentive but a bit clueless. We had to ask twice for tap water and had to ask for cutlery after the food was brought. Also after we ordered my companion was upset to see that the weekend brunch menu on display near the toilets had not been brought to us at 11:30 on a Sunday. He had really wanted an English breakfast but settled on fish tacos instead.
My order of hot chicken sings was actually excellent. Very dry and crisp on the outside, with a spicy dry rub instead being slathered in sauce. Still reasonably moist inside. The garlic and dill dipping sauce was very tasty. Could have done with more carrot and celery sticks.
We visited tonight for the Raptors game. It was a great crowd, but understandably busy. We were seated quickly but took a while to be served. Nonetheless a nice place for a pint :)
Food: Unfortunately, we did not have any food on this visited. Just a pint I'd creamoore each. I will add a review of food should I return in the future.
Service: A bit slow, but it was busy because of the game. We didn't mind and were able to enjoy our pint during the game.
Price: Each pint was $7.35. Not out of the ordinary, but still a tad above my usual pint range. But it was worth it :)
Summary: A nice atmosphere and good beer! Busy but makes for good company for a game if that's your cup of tea. Also it's right beside a subway stop so little walking required, if that's a plus for you :)
I discovered Firkin as I had a coupon for a complimentary dinner. The service is great. I loved the staff: caring, smiling, and helpful. Food was what you can expect from a pub. Comfort food, a bit too heavy. I enjoyed my main (chicken). Large choice of beers.
Thank you!
A cool firkin pub on Yonge. Good service and lots of options for good pub food. I tried the spicy beef nachos and they were perfect. So delicious. And the "small" is massive.
Visit #2: Upgrading the rating to four because the sticky toffee pudding is simply fantastic. Worth the visit just for that.
A fun and relaxed environment. The quirky restaurant will for sure make you smile. The food was delicious. The waitress was upset with me when I decided to pay with gift card so be careful!!
I received a $60 gift certificate to the Firkin on Yonge (courtesy of Zomato) and made my way over there on Friday before the Jays game. We ordered two fish tacos ($11) and they were delicious. My girlfriend ordered the butter chicken ($15) and it was "okay." I ordered the chicken curry on special ($12) and it was pretty good. The service was pleasant and the food came really fast. Overall a positive experience. Thanks Zomato!
Anyone who knows me knows that I hate eating at pubs. While I would usually refuse to eat at a pub, the Firkin on Yonge made the most sense for a work lunch, so I obliged. I ordered a sausage poutine (it had a different name on the menu, that escapes me right now), and was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually was.
I went to the Firkin on Yonge with two friends. The location is convenient located across the street from the Eaton Centre. There is a daily special for foods and beers. I ordered the Spud and Sauce aka Poutine.
On our second day visiting Toronto, my family and I found ourselves at the Firkin On Yonge for dinner. The Firkin Pubs chain operates roughly 30 restaurants throughout Ontario. This location is just south of the Yonge-Dundas Square, in the heart of the city. The Firkin On Yonge offers two levels of bars and dining sections. A decent selection on Canadian craft beer is available on tap. I had the Mad & Noisy Brewing Hops & Bolts IPL, while my wife enjoyed the Hop City Brewing Barking Squirrel.
Great music, atmosphere and cold beer. Servers were very pleasant. The Irish nachos weren't the best but the 4 cheese dip with naan bread was delicious. Who doesn't love cheese!!!
