I've been eyeing this little bistro for a while now. I've seen some good reviews and pictures circulate and I knew the opportunity came up for me to check out Midi Bistro when Winterlicious swung by this year🤗!!
The tiny bistro was packed and we ended up waiting another 15 minutes even with reservations. The staff were friendly and attentive and kept us up to speed and ensured that we waited comfortably. So, I didn't really mind the wait.😊
The Winterlicious lunch menu at Midi Bistro was quite extensive. I was surprised as many Winterlicious menus at other restaurants are more limited compared to Midi Bistro. We selected the following for our lunch meal 🤗: Starting with: pâté de campagne and salade midi. For our mains: seafood risotto and rôti de canard muscovy confit. Ending with: peach melba and créme brûlée. The lunch portions simply blew me away!😯 I didn't expect such hardy portions served at lunch to be honest? Not that I was complaining though!😄 Everything was delicious. I loved the pâte. It's smooth and velvety. But I prefered the toast that accompanied the pâté to be slightly more toasted because it would allow the pâté to be spread more easily and evenly. The midi salade had fresh walnuts and prosciutto spread generously. Every bite had reminisce of flavorful goodness. The seafood risotto had fresh mussels, tiger shrimp and scallops. The risotto was cooked with a chewy bite and the seafood broth really soaked intensely in the risotto. The duck confit was juicy but had a slight crisp to it. As parts of the skin was still crispy! The blueberry sauce really complimented the duck very well. It took the greasiness from the fatty duck!🙂 The disappointment came at the end with the desserts. The creme brûlée was cold and lacked a creamy consistency. The peach melba was merely a slice of peach with icecream and chocolate sauce. I was disappointed because there were absolutely no surprises found whatsoever. But overall, Midi Bistro earned a high rating in my books. The service, the food and ambience earned it a good rating! 😄 I really enjoyed the lunch at Midi Bistro. It was an enjoyable afternoon in a lively cute little place. I would recommend Midi Bistro if you like French Fare and if you are in the area!🗼❤
We came here as we bought a Travelzoo voucher that included 2 brunch items and 2 mimosas. The food itself was good, although nothing really special. We got a quiche and eggs benedict. I thought the quiche crust could have been more flaky. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon was comparable to other brunch places. Again, good but nothing special.
Service was generally good, despite a mix-up with my order. The waitress was nice but seemed a bit confused about what to do with the Travelzoo voucher and how to handle the mix-up with my order. Perhaps she was new. Another staff (perhaps the manager) was more confident and acknowledged that they had brought me the wrong dish.
I will probably not visit for a while given how many other potentially nice restaurants are in the area, but I recommend checking out this place if you are in the neighbourhood.
Lovely dinner - the service was fantastic and it's a cozy and charming atmosphere. The food is good but not mind blowing. A good place for a quiet romantic dinner or relaxed lunch.
