Alexandros World Famous Gyros - known on Google Maps as "Alexandros Take-Out" - was a family-operated eatery catering to the grab-and-go needs of the neighbourhood's busy working class, whether it be nearby office workers or labourers from the countless construction undertakings in the South Core.
The establishment could be characterized by snug seating and an open kitchen. Amidst our wait came a nudge from my ever-sarcastic dining partner: by the drink refrigerator was an ATM machine, an indication that Alexandros may possibly operate on a cash-only basis. Much to my relief, this was not the case.
Hit up this joint a few times while I was at a conference in the 6ix (Rise Up 2019). Pretty standard overall as far as Greek/gyro joints are concerned but I LOVED their pork gyro + the fact that they were open till 4 a.m. everyday. Probably the only spot in the area that stayed open that late & what a life-saver that was! Late-night munchies is sacred! 🙏My only complaint would be the spinach pie pastry which was a overdone (filling was solid however). Solid late-night munch spot and a great place to grab a quick bite on the go! Shouts out to Alexandro's!
nice place to have a cheap and quick food. The pork sandwich there is sooooo yummy and the prize is fair enough. will definitely try other food there next time!
An amazing place on the harborfront !! They serve really good shwarmas and gyros .It is one of my favorite go-to places for a late night craving !! They even have some outside tables where one can sit and enjoy the great food when the weather is nice .
ALWAYS AMAZING gyros and chicken shawarma. I've eaten here many times and I'm blown away every time by the quality of their meat and portion sizes. The greek salad with chicken on top is huge ($11) and comes with tons of chicken. The gyros in a pita (chicken or pork) are amazing. It's a tiny place and the staff are sometimes short with you but I feel like they have to be considering the amount of people lining up here and how busy they are. I don't even mind, just keep serving me amazing food.
Good and fast. Little smoky for sit in..
Really good gyro and always fresh French fries! Very tiny place but I mostly do take-out. Of all places in this area of town, this place is the only place that has the most decent food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended! Oppa!
Loved the tzatziki. Gyros were excellent and the tzatziki was to die for.
Alexandros is right on Harbour Front on Queens Quay and this tiny little place beside the Westin Harbor hotel belts out some super fine Gyros.
Though I walked across the road from where I was living, to pick up a gyros, the place is generally packed with people. And they open pretty late.
The guy who owns this place is a Greek and he makes superb gyros stuffed with pork, Turkey and lots of meats. One gyros is enough to stuff you and you pay around $ 8-9 for that. Though the seating is quite small, you will find people working in Toronto Star walking in here for a quick bite.
Gyros or another form of pita, is great when you are on the run and want to grab a quick bite. Alexandros will make one for you in 10 minutes flat and you can walk away munching it in your hands.
They make burgers too but I haven't tasted them, so obviously no comments on that!
Will go for another gyros when I am in Toronto next! Cheers!
