This is one of my favourite restaurants especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when they have Buck a shuck! Their food has so much flavour and its inexpensive (My favourite dish is the Jumbo shrimp and Lobster sushi). The service is very good and they bring the food right away. The only negative thing that I would have to say is that its really hard to get seats or a table without reservations. But overall the experience is great. I also go to their other location which is closer to where I live at Shops at Don mills

So, ordinarily I write this reviews with a few pictures. Tonight however we were very hungry and my phone was dying so we opted just to enjoy a great meal. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that there is no wheelchair accessible washroom. They warned us of that ahead of time and seated the two of us at a four person table to accommodate my handicapped son even though they were very busy and people were waiting to sit down. We started with a 21 piece order of Sashimi and a BBQ Duck Roll. Without any hesitation I would like to say that the plate of Sashimi that arrived was the finest I have ever had, period. This place sets the bar pretty darned high. The BBQ Duck Roll was something else entirely. If you are a fan of Peking Duck this one is for you. Every mouthful pays homage to a well prepared Peking Duck. My son did find this roll a little challenging as it requires some hearty chewing. This was a very great way to start the meal and we felt that they could not improve on this, we were wrong. Next up we asked for the Sliders, it seemed that everyone was ordering these so we had to try them too. With the Sliders we also requested the Deep Fried Pork Belly. They made the mistake of bringing them together. I took the tomato off one of the Sliders and gave that and a Pork belly to my son. He ate the Pork Belly, then took a bite of the Slider. He put the Slider down and absconded with the entire plate of Pork Belly.... I only got the one and he glared at me if I even tried to scoop another. To accompany the meal we had their sparkling and flat filtered water. The only way to improve on this would have been to have a little Sake but I was driving and it was late. With tip it came out to $110, more expensive than we are used to but worth every penny.

My friend and I ordered a few dishes; oysters, sashimi platter, unagi risotto, takoyaki, and salmon roll. The oysters were HUGE! So amazing. The risotto was also a show stopper. Everything was great and the service was awesome. I would definitely return...especially on a cheap oyster night haha

Nome Izakaya, known for their a buck a shuck oysters on Tuesday and Wednesday, makes a successful appearance on Yonge Street, near Sheppard Avenue. Their interior decor is of the natural dark gray stone and wood, making the enviornment really cool and clean.  But a lot of restaurants have the same decor, more or less, but plays around with the colour schemes.  The atmospere is great, considering how the stone paved walls help block sound from neighbours, hence, conversations between friends are a lot more clearer and understandable.  The livelihood of the restaurant is quite enchanting, making you feel energetic and happy.

North York has a lot of restaurants and new spots continue to pop up everyday. Even with the influx of new players though, Nome Izakaya has remained one of my favourite neighbourhood spots. I can’t resist their $1 oyster specials and their Sake Sangria. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, as they’re always full and I’ve been turned away many nights looking for a walk-in table. Just in time for summer, Nome’s long-awaited roof-top patio was opened in May. I was invited to check out the new space and throw back a few oysters with other Toronto bloggers and Instagramers. With the bar mixing up cocktails, a sake tasting station, and a nonstop flow of samples from the kitchen, Nome showed off their patio by throwing an amazing party.

I live really close to Nome Izikaya but it took a new rooftop patio to finally get me over there to check it out. The patio is surrounded by wood and is sheltered from the busy yonge street traffic. I ordered the tuna tartare and avocado, very god but would have lied a slice i f lime to brighten it up. I also had oysters that come with a bunch of different sauces and i ordered the shrimp which was deep fried perfection the place is popular with the young Asian residents in the neighbourhood and its a nice space to hang out at.

Nome Izakaya is a popular with the yuppies crowd and is packed on Friday nights as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays due to their $1 oyster specials. (You would not be remiss in making a reservation.) With smaller dishes designed for sharing, the cost can add up pretty quickly if you're not careful, but generally speaking the quality of food is worth the price.

I've been to Nome several times now, and I definitely have my favourite dishes. As starters, I would recommend the Wara Yaki (a delightfully smoked salmon sashimi dish), the Maguro & Avocado Tartare (the only complaint I have for this beautifully plated dish is that there's just not enough to share) and the Korean Style Beef Sashimi Tar Tar, which is simply packed with flavour. If you decide to order oysters, they come with a selection of migonettes, vinegars and oils for you to choose from. If you want something a bit more filling, I'd recommend the Unagi Risotto, which is a creamy blend of Italian and Japanese fusion.

I would recommend Nome for a group of four or more so you can make the most of the tapas-style dishes.

Nomé is a good restaurant for sharing and going out with friends. I went on a Friday night and it was really busy. We had made a reservation and got seated at the bar, front row oyster shucking seats. We had the lobster fantasy roll, a dozen oysters (French kiss and malpeque) , and the short ribs. The lobster roll was huge. It was tasty. The oysters were fresh and the sauces provided were very good as well. The short ribs were also very flavourful. The only downside was the sangria I ordered, didn't taste amazing. Overall, would probably go again and recommend it for a girls night or drinks.

Nome Izakaya is a sweet little Japanese bar with a touch nicer upscale feel.

The place itself is narrow, but elongated and can seat quite a few people. That doesn't stop it from getting packed most nights, especially Wednesdays when they have Oyster night. The menu features good bar food at a bit of a price, but the quality backs it up.

I've had a variety of items on the times I've been here, but standouts include the Japa Burger, Karaage, and the Ebimayo. The Japa Burger is actually a plate of 3 sliders that come with sliced ribeye meat that has been marinated and topped with tomatoes, onions, and bbq sauce. The burger sliders were so good and tasty that I almost wanted to order another. The ebimayo was OK. They were pretty big shrimp, so that's good. However, the batter was too much and masked the shrimp. The karaage, fried chicken poppers, were excellent. Can't go wrong with fried chicken, but they were giant chunks of meat with a light batter and served with wasabi mayo.

And of course, the $1 Malpeque Oysters, are a must. They have them Wednesdays and Tuesday nights and there is no minimum or drink purchase required (though it's hard not to order a drink). They're pretty fresh and come with a slew of condiments aside like teriyaki and soy, to accompany favorites like Tabasco and horseradish.

The place is clean and they've got TVs everywhere so it's a perfect place to watch the game and grab some drinks with a smaller party. The servers are easy on the eyes, but tend to be rushed with the amount of people they have to attend to. Definitely worth a visit, especially for oysters and games on TV.

Great experience. Good food. The sea food is fresh and tastes delicious. The oysters are $1 on Tuesday, so if you’re in on Tuesday do not forget to order it. Also it’s pretty busy so make sure you order in advance so you don’t have to wait for the food to arrive.

What got me really impressed being here was the food presentation. Every dish was plated extremely well, and all look very appetizing. The service we got was also commendable. There was usually someone willing and ready to assist us. Something this Japanese place also has going for it was that they have oysters available — both from the West Coast and East Coast. My group was able to sample enough variety from their menu. We ordered Bulgogi Tacos, Marinated Short Rib, Apple Salmon, and another specialty roll. They all came out looking and tasting great. The only downside I see was that the food items tend to be priced on the more premium side. The serving portions are small and it is easy for the bill to climb up if you are coming here to eat and not dine.

Creative and delicious Good service even though the restaurant is full. Food is delicious and there are many choices. There are some creative and interesting dishes. There are 6 sauces pairing with the oysters, which is cool, however the oysters are on the small side. Although considering they are $1 per oyster, I can’t complain.

Everything we tried from here was so good! Wanted to have a nice chill day with some good eats and this did not disappoint! Ordered the famed japaburgers, the tuna coin and I also added a half dozen oysters. As well cannot go to nomé without adding the soju and aloe. The japaburgers are a definite must order! The beef was just so juicy! And although it looks like a simple burger, it’s gonna be one of the top burgers you have had! The tuna coin was super creative and the rice base was deep fried with some seaweed and sliced thinly like a coin with the fresh fish on top! Oysters were super fresh and comes with 6 different sauces for you to try! Definitely gotta come back for $1 oyster days! For the soju and aloe, you won’t be happy ordering the 500ml, just trust me and go for the 1L! Service was on point! Waitress was super nice and recommended the tuna coin when we were looking for rolls! Great job overall! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content!

Food was really good, taste was definitely there. Portions didn’t seem to match the price price tbh. Bulgogi tacos was really oily, too much mayo/sauce but the taste was very good. Sliders were amazing, very unique experience with those. Pork belly was very oily, I understand it’s pork belly but it just seems more unhealthy than normal. Overall pretty good

One of the best in town. The place is always packed. Food is flavorful, thanks to the chef special sauce, and the cocktails are delightful. Keep an eye out for those $1 oyster days. Just one thing, arguably their best, Japa Burgers sold out so fast
