I've had the opportunity to dine here twice now. Once at the hibachi table, and once a la carte.
Our hibachi experience was great. Very benihanna "esque". More experience, less entertainment. Good was great, a bit pricey but definitely worth it as the food was amazing.
Our a la carte experience was also amazing. We had a bit of a mishap with one of our soups as we wish we were told it was a beef/pork broth. This is important information, and needs to be shared with customers. I had already consumed half of it before thinking to ask. They replaced it immediately with a miso soup.
Udon bowl was amazing with veggies, and will definitely order again. The sushi here is as expected with a Japanese restaurant, fresh, tasty and delicious.
Not only is the food amazing, but the service is top notch too. Everything I ordered was perfectly balanced, and the meal was worth every penny. I ordered the teppanyaki scallop, and toro and uni nigiri, as well as green tea and warm sake, and it was the perfect lunch treat. These chefs know what they're doing!
We had a wonderful time at Yamato’s.
They were able to squeeze us in as a walk in.
The service was attentive, the food pretty good, but the tappanyaki is the real reason to go here.
Though the restaurant is located in yorkville and costly, this is definitely not a high dining experience. Other patrons were in jogging pants, the restaurant can get loud and rough and the food is basic (and yummy).
