New owner but looks same great taste , warm welcome as usual by Syrian kind staff , I was served by a charming young lady and her mother (probably) , I guess they are able to keep the good reputation of the previous owner. This place is amazing. Stopped here on our road trip from Calgary to Toronto and I am so glad I did. As someone from Lebanon I can attest that the food here is authentic and really good, tastes just like they prepare it in the Middle East. The Fattoush salad was made in front of us, really fresh and so flavourful, I highly recommend it. We also had soujok sandwiches which were great and spicy. The staff was super friendly too I believe it was the owner and his wife, they greeted us and we had a nice chat while the food was being prepared. Definitely recommend it.
The couple that run Damascus Donair are extremely pleasant to deal with and they make some really tasty food to boot! I'd handily recommend anyone who's on the fence about stopping in give them a try.
And to anyone who's complaining that these aren't "traditional donairs" who really cares? This is a restaurant and almost all food is open to interpretation. Their food tastes great and the staff is awesome, what more do you need? Do you go to taco Time and complain that they aren't proper tacos too?
All in all. Great food, great staff, and an even better price. 10/10 on my books.
I've Iived in Montreal for 3 years where I got used to getting quality Middle Eastern takeout almost daily. This little place very closely replicates those flavours. I think I've had everything on their menu by now, and every last thing is immensely tasty.
This is my first time in Thunder Bay and I was looking for a Middle Eastern resturaunt. I stumbled upon this gem. A couple working in a small, cute and clean sized resturaunt. I wanted to try both the beef donair and chicken shawarma. The beef donair was decent, but my God was the chicken shawarma ever so tasty! It's served with a side of garlic that you just went to eat more and more of. From the first bite, I instantly travelled to Syria, the hub of best shawarmas in the world. The service was great and the owners are extremely polite. I would definitely be coming again to try different things and I encourage people to try it!
What lovely people who took our order and made us such delicious food. I had the salad with chicken, which was loaded, pretty much good for two meals. Absolutely delicious. Would return over and over.
First of all, great food, fresh veggies, the whole package if you want a tasty quick lunch. Second of all, I used to think my pride as a Canadian hinged on my love of hockey, the outdoors, braving the cold, etc.....this restaurant makes me proud to be a Canadian. Stay as long as you like, bring all of your family and friends, Canada welcomes anyone needing a safe place to call "home".
