I knew I wanted something hot and soupy as it was cold outside. We both happened to order the Janchi Guksu, a bowl of thin wheat noodle in light anchovy broth topped with various vegetables and thin sliced egg.

The Guksu and Noodle is a relatively recent addition to the area, however its menu showed signs of extreme wear. I suppose the rips and faded edges were a proper indication of their popularity; the neighbouring tables comprised primarily of those that spoke Korean - a sign I considered reflective of the restaurant's authenticity.

...

I was captivated by the colours of the Fruit Bibim Guksu, though we also ordered a Gogi Guksu to try their dishes at two varying temperatures.

I found this "new" Korean noodle restaurant "The Guksu and Noodles" from an old friend on Facebook (thanks Gina!). This restaurant is one of the rare ones that specializes in mostly Korean hot and cold noodles dishes. For this lunch adventure, my foodie colleague and I were free of meetings and decided to venture out here for lunch.

The soup is fantastic and the meat on the soup was perfectly grilled. The tempura was well done on both presentation and taste. Not the mention the kind service and atmosphere. Will go back again.

Authentic Korean food, the spicy anchovy brooth soup was okay, the spice over powered the anchovy flavour. The plain anhovy brooth noodles was pretty good. No 5 which is the brooth noodle was awesome tasteting with a ton of beefs and tendon in it. Great place to hang out with friends. Services was excellent. And yes there are alochol options if you would like it with your meal.

Awesome service, awesome food. Food are interesting and delicious. Service was great and portions were good! Got a little bit thirsty afterward, which is why I deducted one point. The pork belly was a bit too fat for our taste.

It was the third time I came here. Their noodle soup is just so amazing all the time. Try spicy beef Kal Guksu. I also can guarantee you that their Kimchi is one of a kind. Sauce served on the side is always the most important thing for Korean noodle and I really like it. The best thing here was the service. Some may feel annoyed as the server comes often to check if the customer needs anything but I liked it. I will come again for sure.

Tried the Gogi Guksu as well as the soya sauce pork belly. The broth for the Gogi Guksu was flavourful but lacked just a tiny bit of salt. I would suggest that you add a little bit of the kimchi on each bite of the noodles since it enhances the flavour even more and gives a more rounded flavour palette. It will compensate for the lack of salt. The pork belly had a nice aroma and a slight sweet note to it. It was very good. The pickled daikon was also made very well. Also the kimchi was not overly spicy or vinegary. It was very nice and went well with the noodles. You should note that the service may be slow. With a full complement of customers, you may be waiting for 40-45 minutes for your food after it is ordered. We went early so we didn't have this problem except for one of my friends who arrived late. The staff were quick to correct the problem by bringing out the food free of charge. I appreciate that they were able to resolve the problem in a respectful manner. It says a lot. Hopefully they will be able to correct the kitchen issue soon.
