This sushi restaurant was recommended to me by my colleague. I ordered a few sushi rolls to takeout, and I am quite pleased. Will definitely go back!
Jeff, Angela and staff are always welcoming and friendly. Service is consistently excellent and the food is fresh and incredibly full of flavour. Hands down beats any of the 'all-you-can-eat' sushi restaurants in town. The menu is varied enough for the first-time sushi eater to the more adventurous sushi connoisseur!
Sapporo Ichibang. My first time trying sushi. I must say it was a good place to start. The ambience was good. Service was quick. I ordered tempura. I love tempura now! Sushi was great too. I'm not too fond of raw meat but it wasn't bad. It was better than I thought it would be. The overall experience was good. I would definitely recommend it.
I'm not a SUPER fan of Japanese food, but this place was really good. Had a Bento box and it was Delish! Atmosphere is good and decor is clean and inviting.
The staff at Sapporo Ichibang are friendly and helpful, the food is delicious (try the house veggie rolls!) and the decor is modern. I highly recommend paying this restaurant a visit.
Always amazing sushi and service. I always go in with a large group, and the food is always speedy and delicious. Can't go to Sudbury without stopping here!
I come into Sudbury for work and stay downtown a few days at a time. Usually I try one new restaurant each trip. It was a conflicting experience at Sapporo Ichibang.
Good casual sushi, but a few missteps Though I'll try it again next time I work here.
The good: Incredible yam roll with two crispy strips, not a big half-raw one like some places. Really good sushi rice (just enough vinegar and sugar, and not too much rice in the rolls) Complimentary edamame and miso soup. Two small or one large roll make a decent meal for $11. Plus tea, tax and generous tip was $18.
The unfortunate: kind but forgetful service. Their double-take at a table for one. Really, really weak tea (not complimentary), Somewhat mushy spicy salmon roll. Just enough to take the edge off it being great.
Best service among sushi restaurants!. This is where you will get the best service in town when you're in the mood for sushi. Their food is great too. Decor is a little lacklustre but they make up for it in all other aspects :)
A little disappointed. I have been there here many times and i have always loved it. It's usually quite a fair amount of food for the price and the staff are always nice. Sometimes they even throw in an extra hand roll or two free of charge.
However one night i ordered take out and i was sorely disappointed by the quality. I had the Spicy pork and salmon sushi app($20-30). The salmon was frozen and the portions were significantly smaller then usual. I got maybe i hand full of rice and the spicy pork( and my hands are small).
My recommendation is to never order take out after 7, even though their suppose to be open till 9 they tend to start closing things down earlier then that. Which is why the quality tends to go down hill.
If you want the best quality for the price go at lunch and dine in.
Best Sushi in Sudbury. I have had sushi in many cities in Canada and can say that Sapporo Ichibang stacks up with the best. Their spicy tuna hand roll and dynamite roll are the best i've ever had. Chef always gives complimentary miso soup and edamame as an added bonus. Great quiet atmosphere and decent prices.
Sapporo Ichibang is hands down, the best japanese restaurant in Sudbury. I have had the spicy maki, ramen, sashimi platter, dynamite roll, miso soup, saké since eating there regularly at lunch. Always absolutely amazing with great presentation.
This is one of the best sashimi I have ever had, including my trip to Japan.
The staff is super friendly and attentive, the food is delicious and the fish is one of the freshest I've ever had. Sashimi literally melts in your mouth- The sushi chef(s) here know what they're doing! Very reasonably priced too
Would highly reccomend for an authentic Japanese food experience (and if nothing else, to see the sake machine!)
Absolutely wonderful. Best takoyaki I've had in Canada, service was wonderful, great ambiance and the food. The food! I'm not going to spoil it, order here and be blown away personally.
In the past, this was my favorite sushi spot in town. Most recently, it is the only restaurant that I've ever returned food to the kitchen in my entire life (it's just not a thing I do). That being said, the staff was very understanding and discounted half the item from the bill, which they really didn't have to do.
As far as actual sushi & tempura are concerned, this restaurant ranks among the highest in Sudbury, the quality is much better than the all-you-can-eat places. Their ingredients are always fresh and delicious.
One recommendation, DO NOT order the ramen. It's instant noodles (apparently) in a homemade broth but it just tasted like a $1.99 Kimchi instant noodles soup from the grocery store, which is why I refused to eat it.
I'm hoping our next visit is more similar to my formative years. All my previous experiences with any menu item have been pleasant.
This is a real gem of a restaurant! Busy, friendly, and the highest quality food. I've been to many good sushi restaurants in North America and this is right up there.
The best sushi place I have been too. Sudbury #1 place to go for sushi. I don’t mind paying the extra because it’s fresh, and tastes so much better then the rushed AYCE. Will be coming here for all my sushi cravings from now on! The service is friendly, and they always make note to remember who you are. :)
Could not recommend more, excellent atmosphere very polite and friendly staff, and the food is hands down the best sushi I’ve had as far back as I can remember. If you are looking for a sushi place, look no further.
By far the best sushi I've had in northern Ontario to date! Amazing food, amazing service, amazing experience. 10/10 ❤️
