Green tea frappe today with aloe vera and coconut jelly with mango sauce and condensed milk....SO GOOD. Coconut jelly was a bit sweet (they can't really do anything about it) but the green tea shaved ice wasn't too sweet with a nice subtle bitterness :)
I used to get these all the time at Aberdeen with Neko but haven’t had it in a few years. It was nice to be able to try it again. Although it’s called “shaved ice” it’s really more like “shaved icecream” because they use condensed milk as part of the basis of the “ice” resulting in a creamier texture than traditional shaved ice. Their presentation has improved from a few years ago since they used to serve it in styrofoam bowls instead of parfait cups. But this was actually a not so good thing because it also meant that it wasn’t very balanced and we actually tipped the entire thing over! We were all speechless when it happened and madly tried to salvage what we could. It was still delicious of course…but just not as visually appealing heh.
Aberdeen centre’s food court snakes around and allows over 20 different stands to have their own dedicated space. Lots of effort was put into decorating each stall. Each had its name in bold, a menu with photos, and some even a display of items served utilizing accurately portrayed plastic food. Not surprisingly, most of the writing used was Chinese characters, but the coloured photos and the glossy fake food helped to bridge the language gap. I will be covering all 20 of the foodcourt dining options across several posts.
After stuffing myself to the brim with dim sum and snacks from Daiso, I managed to just make enough room to force somew shaved ice down my throat.
NO REGRETS. The shaved ice was a delight! Maybe I have low standards because the shaved ice in Calgary is rather mediocre in comparison, but I would definitely force myself to eat past bloated for this.
We made our own shaved ice using mango frappe, strawberries, kiwis, and grass jelly. No sauce, but the ice was just sweet enough! SUCH A TREAT 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND.
Frappe Bliss is my favorite shaved ice place! What makes this place unique is that they use flavoured milk ice instead of normal ice. I know many places make milk ice now, however I still like the texture of the ice at frappe bliss the best. It's not overly creamy, its nice and flaky. I recently went back for another visit and I realized that the portions got smaller which is really disappointing, but it still tasted the same. My favorite is the green tea frappe!
If you don't really like the shaved ice, maybe you'll like frappe bliss. Instead of using shaved ice, they use some sort of frozen milky icecream ..? To me it tastes like icecream but way better! You can choose between different flavors of frozen milk too
Delicious Shaved Dessert. Took awhile to get my Chocolate Earthquake as only one person was working there on a weekend.
The dessert with Green Tea shaved ice tasted quite nicely for the hot weather along with the Oreo crumbs and chocolate syrup.
Love it !!!. Always tempted to go here everytime I set foot in Richmond. Their lychee ice is excellent, and the light texture is a refreshing change from ice cream on a hot day. They have loads of toppings, ranging from fresh fruit to mochi balls and aloe vera. You can also add condensed milk on top for free :)
Only complaint is that they only take cash, sometimes long line ups, and if you don't go early enough in the afternoon, they're often out of mochi balls.
Refreshing. After throwing back a half dozen chicken wings, i head to frappe bliss for a plain mango ice. it's incredibly light flakes of mango flavored ice - different but delicious. there's loads of other flavors and toppings galore, but the mango plain is just fine in my books.
Creamy tasty shaved ice. This place has the best shaved ice ever. I always get the plain milky one with extra condense milk, and it always tastes great. This place and daiso are my only 2 reasons of going to Aberdeen.
I liked the place the woman who works there was friendly, I tried the rainbow, was good! Anyways I think a little bit more of ice cream could be better I think they gave me a little so I couldn't enjoy all the bubbles with the ice cream because it was a few. But is really good.
