It's one of the best HK style restaurant in Richmond and that's reflected in their price too. I read one review saying that they Dry Fried Noodle with Beef is oily. In fact, this is what this dish is about. It has to be fried with much oil to make this dish. You cannot prepare this properly without much oil. What I like are their lobster and steak. Standard has been consistent all along. I also like their dessert of banana crepe. Service is quite friendly so far. Works for me.
One of the first Hong Kong style cafes in Richmond. They are a bit pricier than most regular HK cafes, but the quality is very consistent over the years. Still has one of the best steak combo sets in town.
A Nice Hong Kong Style Cafe in Richmond
Visited on a Statutory Holiday during lunch time - A table for 2
We initially intended to visit a famous HK Style Wonton Noodles House located at the same mall, but noticed that it closed during public holidays.
2 hungry folks then just walked a few seconds and found this HK Style Cafe, thought no harm to give it a try.
Well, good to find this place. Not bad at all!
The first impression of this Cafe was really HK Style design, with some booth seatings.
There were quite a good variety of items to choose from the Menu.
We decided to try their "set lunches" - with soup, main dish, and a drink
We both chose the red soup - HK Style Russian Soup. For main courses, we had Ox tail in curry sauce, Grilled New York Steak in Black Pepper Sauce, both with Spaghetti. For drinks, we ordered hot milk tea and hot lemon tea.
The food quality was good overall, service was attentive and pleasant, although it was quite busy at that time. The only thing I have to criticize was that the tea was a bit too diluted.
With only about $15 per set lunch, I want to say they're doing a good job already.
There are also many HK Style Cafes located in Richmond. However, this was the one that I did not feel thirsty afterwards. Thumbs up!
I would definitely visit again to try other food.
Recommended!
Best HK style cafe in Richmond. I come here almost every week and they are always consistent with their great service and great food. I always get the Cajun chicken because the sauce is just soo good. Their soups come with a slice of garlic bread which I love, and the restaurant is very bright and clean which is a bonus to me.
love this place! I go there once every two weeks. The service is fantastic. They give my mom a free dessert every time ( she never orders the whole meals). The food is extremely tasty. The steak is my personal favourite.
Favorite Restaurant for HK Cafe Style Food. This has been one of my favourite restaurants over the years. The food is always great, very consistent. The afternoon tea sets are such a great deal. The staff is also very friendly!
Been visiting this place for years... at least 10 years... foods are tasty but I would recommended to go there between 230-530 with their special menu because you would get piss off with their service if you pay the full price but after all it worth trying just expect with bad manner service.
La Amigo Restaurant - Awesome HK Style Cafe!. Eating in Richmond is always a delight. Not only are there so many choices along Alexandra Road and all around the Richmond area, you can always count on some fulfilling Hong Kong cafe styled treasures. My favorite HK style cafe has always been La Amigo (beside Zodiac...coughcough). They have a vast array of foods, from steaks to curry to pan fried udon, and has one hell of an iced milk tea.
My favorite dish at La Amigo is the Blacked Cajun Chicken. The spice is perfect; not spicy on the tongue, yet still has the aroma. They are one of the few places in Richmond who serve baked escargots - which I love! And their puff pasty lobster bisque is TDF. So rich and heavenly..
African Chicken!. I definitely recommend going to La Amigo during the hours where they have the special menu as it's of much better value than going at regular times! Go during 2:30 - 5:30 om and after 9:30 PM! Try their African (cajun) chicken! One of my all time favourites!
I read Chowtimes' review on this, and they were spot on, this was amazing!! The sauce was delicious; creamy, tangy, with a medley of flavours melting together. knew from reading reviews online that this was an HK Cafe, but from the outside, you honestly wouldn't be able to tell. The name "Amigo" is enough to throw people off, coupled with the sun logo, it gets even more confusing. Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised how nicely this place was decorated. HK Cafes usually look rather dated and sparse, but it seems like Amigo had undergone a reno, because it was looking rather spiffy haha! For a HK cafe, the prices here are rather high. The cheapest dish here is $9.95 and go upwards to $25 . "Lobster" Cream Soup 2/5 stars As with most Hk cafes, your meal usually comes with free soup and a drink of your choice! At Amigo the choices were Chinese style Russian Borsht or "Lobster" soup. Even though I was pretty sure they wouldn't use real lobster, I ordered it anyway haha, out of curiosit
I love this restaurant. They use high quality ingredients and the lunch special is great value for money. Big portions. I always order their steak with spaghetti. Great soups. Their service is good too. Be sure to make a reservation before you go or you might need to wait for a long time for a table.
As someone who’s had HK cafe their whole life, I loved this place! I’ve only had their late night (9pm+) menu and I believe it’s fairly priced and good quality. I especially liked how it was relatively clean compared to many other HK cafes.
Very nice set dinner menu. I had cream chowder lobster bisque, Filet Mignon steak with lobster tail, and banana pancake. Strongly recommend
The XO noodle dish was delicious. Noodles were springy and great texture. Portuguese chicken wasn’t that great as I was expecting it to be more baked and cheesy. I would definitely go back again to try other things on the menu. Would suggest to anyone looking for a brunch Chinese place. Also, the service was very fast even though it was quite busy in there.
Portions are large. Great place for Cantonese breakfast, lunch, workers' meal, dinner.
Free parking in plaza / complex.
Food arrives fast and haven't had a problem with anything we orders. Service available in Chinese or/and English. Good place to bring elderly and/or children. Good place for a short stop for quick meal.
The lunch special is magnificent: garlic bread, soup, and drink with your main.
For the main you can choose pasta/spaghetti, rice, tater tots as your carb. Of course I go for tater tots and relive childhood.
The noodle soups are also good here.
Pictured is pork chop (thinly pounded) with sauce (pepper sauce?) With tater tots, tomato soup, and beef noodles.
Basically this is a direct competitor to Silver tower. In comparison the food here is significantly better than silver tower but they do not open as late and pricing is higher.
Still a good check out especially the steak. The tip is to ask for the sauce on the side, otherwise there is not enough sauce. This is the case for most dishes
First time here. Great food, pricing, and friendly service! Will be back
