Idk why but i keep finding spaghetti in my rice. Not complaining tho cuz it still taste good. Just kinda weirded out. Been coming here for years, would recommend if u want some hongkong style food.
Get the Baked Pork Chop on Rice or Baked Chicken on Rice -- so tasty! It has a good tomato flavour and a bit of cheese baked into the top. This is probably the most popular item here. I usually order the same thing every time 😅.
HK style milk tea is also good here as well -- nice and smooth with strong tea.
Service: The younger guy taking the orders sometimes seems really grumpy but he's a reasonable guy. Sometimes they get super busy and there are tons of people in line waiting for their food -- make sure you get a order number and wait by the counter so your order doesn't get missed!

在列治文最多選擇的三大商場美食中心聚集在 天車站Aberdeen Station 一帶，分別為時代坊 ( Aberdeen Centre )、八佰伴中心 ( Yahon Centre ) 及百家店 ( Parker Place )。以地方舒適、環境優雅而論，時代坊 的food court 絕對可以稱冠，臨窗可眺望遠景，比不少餐廳都更有優美景觀。
以港式焗飯馳名的“萬寶茶餐”位於時代坊3/F美食中心裡，是一家港式茶餐食肆，從原來的「香港仔中心」到重建後的「時代坊」就一直迄立至今，可算是家長壽食肆。食物方面以即吃即製的港式焗飯為明星招牌菜，十元八塊已有一頓豐足及超水準的美食，所以吸引不少新舊食客前來光顧。店家所有餐點都附送熱飲，但我建議大家點餐時要求改換餐湯，湯底不單材料豐富更是濃郁好喝啊！
got the baked portugese chicken, in the foodcourt of aberdeen :) i do think aberdeen got the best foodcourt in vancouver no doubt, and for the food, the price is definitely worth the taste and portion. the chicken is tender and juicy and as for the baked sauce, it's delicious, it's more on the fusion of asian and portugese, it's definitely you can taste that it's trying to be european but using asian ingredients and cooking skill, which fused really well, not too overwhelming and definitely not bland at all.
overall i would come back again and order food from this place again :)

Hong Kong food is odd. When in doubt at a mall food court, it's always good to eyeball the eateries to see which one has the biggest crowds in front. This can be a good thing -- they're the most popular for a reason. Or it can be bad -- they're so slow that customers are backed up. I reckon Mambo Cafe is in the first category. It's got a diverse menu -- no scooping out standardized dishes from tureens on a steam table. I could see the staff in the kitchen space behind the register cranking out everything as it was ordered.
I chose the baked pork chop and chicken with rice. Wow was there a lot of rice, under some gloopy orange/brown gravy that had no flavour. There must have been half a kilo of rice by weight. I could only eat about half. Somewhere in Darfur a child just starved to death, and I'm dumping enough food to keep that kid alive for two days. Shameful! The chicken and pork chop were cooked OK, not overdone. They tasted oily from the grill's grease, but not from any spices. The pork chop was speckled with fatty bits, but hey, pigs are fat. There was a decent amount of meat overall for an $8 dish.
There is SO much I don't know about the regional styles of Chinese food. I glom Cantonese and Szechuan, but before I immigrated to Vancouver, I didn't know Hong Kong had its own food vibe. They don't go for strong spicy flavours there, do they? From what I've read about HK style, it seems like a mash-up between Cantonese and what you'd get from the lunchroom lady at an English boarding school. Like the tiny pile of succotash at one corner of the Styrofoam container my food came in. This corn-carrot-pea combo was bilious boiled stuff when the lunch ladies used to ladle it out in my elementary school four decades ago. The bite I had from what I got at Mambo was just as awful. Maybe I wasn't supposed to eat it -- it was just there to add a splash of colour. I will have to research more HK cuisine with my mouth AND eyes.
Simply wonderful! I love the food! Especially the 白汁雞扒飯 (chicken steak with rice and cream sauce) the chicken steak is grilled perfectly crispy, the cream sauce is really creamy but not too rich and the rice is perfectly cooked. Yummy! Also the hk styled milk tea is really good too! The service is friendly, and the food doesnt take too long , and the price is right! I would definitly go there again!

Every time I'm at Aberdeen, there's always a huge lineup at Mambo Cafe! Mambo sells HK style cafe food, and has your basic HK breakfast staples like Spam and Macaroni, french toast, sandwiches and also a variety of rice/noodle dishes. Baked Pork Chop on Rice 4/5 stars Apparently the thing to get here is their baked pork chop on rice! Pork chops alone are enough to entice me, so imagine my excitement when I discovered there was cheese on it too haha! The portions at Mambo are very generous, so I ordered my meal in a to-go container, as I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. The meal comes with 3 large pieces of pork chop and rice, drowned in a sweet tomato sauce, with cheese on top. There were also bits of corn and peas on top of the cheese. The exterior of the pork chop was very crispy. The interior was decently moist. However the main attraction was definitely the sauce. The tomato sauce had the sourness of real tomato but was very sweet. I wish they would have included more cheese,
I’ve forgotten how to write a food blog! It completely slipped my mind to take a photo of the store fronts for these two food court stalls in Aberdeen. For example, the other day I had dinner at Joey’s without writing taking one photo of my food! What is happening to me! I need to eat more and blog more. Dom and I stopped at Aberdeen for a late afternoon “snack”. When it comes to Dom and I, the term “snack” is used loosely. Very loosely. I had Hae Mool Soon Doo Boo (Medium) $6.95 from Jang Mo Jib, a Korean stall near Wo Fung, the famous chicken wings stall. For photos of Jang Mo Jib, see Chow Times’ Aberdeen food court post . There’s a photo of Mambo Cafe, too, which is where Dom ordered his food! My order translates to Seafood Soft Tofu Soup. You also have the choice of Mushroom, Kimchi or Mixed. I’m emotionally allergic to mushrooms so I chose seafood, which I personally find always tastes the best in tofu soup. It was a larger serving than I expected, complete with banchan and rice
Delicious Beef and Bitter Melon with Black Soybeans on rice. Comes piping hot and fresh to order. Not many places in a food court offer this dish and bitter melon is super healthy and good for you so it was nice to be able to order it here. For an extra dollar, I added a cream of corn soup which was pretty good too.
Can’t really add to what has already been said. Most dishes are at least average if not better. I think there are better places for ice lemon tea, but Spaghetti Bolagnaise is always a personal favourite as well as their beef curry brisket. Our favourite dish though is the French toast. Easily the best and most satisfying dessert in the food court.
The black pepper beef spaghetti is pretty good. It isnt as good as say the happy day diner but it’s not that far from it. The price is also very reasonable for what you get and look at this huge portions !!!!

Delicious macaroni soup, just like in HK. Brings back great memories. Service is a little slow but it is really busy. Menu is full of Cantonese HK cafe style food. Prices are high but it's worth it. Cash only FYI
One of my go to spots at the Aberdeen food court. Cash only! I ordered the baked seafood rice with iced milk tea. The dish took a while to be ready so feel free to walk around until your number is called!

Been a Loyal customer for over 10 years, very often I would order the onion pork chop & rice and it never fails to satisfy. Good portion, decent price ($11.95), 2 pork chops and taste Great.
Baked Pork Chop Rice has a lot of pork chop and cheese on it.
HK Milk Tea not too sweet and very refreshing.
Service was quick and friendly. Would definitely go back.
