Food tastes pretty good. The restaurant itself is really nicely renovated and gives it a high class/high dining atmosphere. All the staff are extremely polite and helpful. The price can be steep though. Food for two costed us roughly $120.
Very boujee place to have your hotpot fix. But if you’re willing to pay the price, you will get what you pay for - decent quality meats, fresh veggies and seafood. Be prepared to wait for a VERY LONG TIME during busy times.
No, I did not spell dollar wrong! Well, I did, but this is the way dollar is spelled at Dolar Shop. Despite its name, The Dolar Shop is not cheap! It should be called The Hundred Dolar Shop 😂. Anyways, The Dolar Shop is a hot pot restaurant that opened up last year inside Lansdowne Center. The fiance and I have been wanting to try this place for a couple months, and finally were able to go one afternoon!
The Dolar shop was opened in Landsdowne Center Richmond in 2018. It’s a hotpot restaurant, but it serves a whole new tier of hot pot that each customer will have their own flavours of hotpot broth. I had The Dolar Shop twice with my friends in two months so far. I enjoyed my lunch with my friends at this restaurant.
Environment: Because of the perfect location in Landsdowne Center, the Dolar shop has attracted so many customers. After busy shopping in the mall, people have lunch or dinner at the Dolar Shop. It will be perfect for them. Also, they don’t have to worry about parking. There are so many parking spots around the mall.
The Dolar Shop locates right at the entrance of the mall. Inside the restaurant, the space is very big and comfortable. The white decor makes the whole restaurant bright, clean, and enjoyable.
The waiting areas have provided Chinese Traditional Snacks for customers has a try. It shows that the restaurant very cares about the guests. Inside the restaurant, each table has individual indiction stove for each customer hotpot, which is very unique.
Service: When we got into the restaurant and sat down, the servers brought us the menu and began service us. The Dolar shop is different from any hotpot restaurant, they charge all the guests an additional $3.99 for dipping sauce. There are two different sauces sections. The server made a special sauce for you (green onions, garlic, cilantro, Thai chili and soy sauce) and you could also get access to the sauce bar as well as appetizers and seasonal fruits as well. The Dolar Shop has lots of sauce for you to select. If you are the sauce person, this is a great place to eat hotpot.
Food: At the Dolar Shop, everyone has to order their own broth ($5-$8/person) to begin. Then, we order all the ingredients together as a group. For the soup broths, the Dolar Shop has 6 different kinds of broth for you to choices, such as Combination of Szechuan Hot & Spicy with The Dolar Shop Spare Rib Broth, Tomato Beef, Szechuan Hot & Spicy, Pepper Pork Tripe, and Chicken Broth, Pork Leg Bone Broth, and Mushroom Broth. I have tried most of them. The mushroom Broth is my most favorite. I have ordered it all the time.
Besides the soup broths, all the vegetable and meat will be a charge too. It’s not all you can eat, so the price of the food is expensive. There is a large selection of beef on their menu and some lamb. The quality of the meat were really awesome and super delicious as well.
Final Thoughts: All the food tasted great in this place. It’s very authentic Chinese food. However, the price of the food is super expensive. Suggest going to this place with a group of people. This way you can try more different food at this restaurant.
The Dolar Shop in Richmond has been open for a little more than a year. Its name, Dolar originated from Hong Kong and is a very specific way of eating hot pot. Authentic Dolar hot pot only has two types of soup base, Seafood, and Satay. Also, they do not use sauce that may cover the taste of the ingredients itself. Thus, the ingredients used in Dolar Hot Pot must be of the highest grade. We will find out if Dolar Shop lives up to its name. They are located in the West side of the Landsdowne Mall, Richmond.
I still remembered those good old times when my friends and I were celebrating birthday at a AYCE hotpot place, but for the past years, more hotpot places opened in Vancouver. And their elegant interior, exceptional service, and premium food quality just bring hotpot to a whole new level. However, these restaurants are relatively expensive, so I didn’t have a chance to try any of them until recently. The Dolar Shop introduces a 30% off promotion on Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 5:30 pm or from 10 pm to 12 am. How can I resist of trying this place on a Friday afternoon?
Emily, Marian and me met up at Dolar Shop Hot Pot for dinner on a week day. Emily had just returned from China. Emily made reservation and she was there early to ensure we had a table. Marian picked me up from work and when we arrived, there were people waiting in the waiting area. Do not be misled by the name of this place, it sounds like dollar store but it is a high end hot pot restaurant.
Hot pot cuisine has been growing in Richmond, BC. You can easily find one near you in central Richmond.
Dolar Shop 豆捞坊 is a large hot pot chain in China, and it is not an AYCE place. They have à la carte menu. Dolar Shop is definitely a luxurious hotpot restaurant compared to some of the other hot pot places around town. You can personalize your own pot instead of a communal pot with friends/family. Dolar Shop has a mandatory charge on condiments which you can pair your own sauce at the Sauce Bar as well as bottomless the appetizers and seasonal fruits.
All ingredients were fresh and well-presented. Services were remarkable. If you like tomato, you should not miss the Tomato & Oxtail Broth. Pepper Pork Tripe & Chicken Broth is also another excellent soup base.
Dolar Shop is located in Lansdowne Centre next to Best Buy at 720-5300 No. 3 Road, Richmond BC.

Amazing service and high quality food. The prices are so cheap compared to the quality and amount of food you get. Highly recommend making a reservation here as the wait times can be extremely long. They also serve free vanilla ice cream cones after the meal but sadly the ice cream machine was out of order for 8 times out of 15 visits. Be sure to check out their instagram for monthly discounts. The dolar shop banana pancakes are worth trying as well!
○Good service/ if you make reservation expect to wait another 30-45 minutes still / if you have no reservation probably over 1 hour wait/ I suggest put your name down then go shopping and come back
○Perfect time to go is 5:30-6
○Good good/ personal hotpot style
○Self serve sauce bar (I definitely stocked up on the xo sauce)
○Very pricey/ I suggest going with over 3 people to share variety and share cost
○Nice expensive looking decor
○Family friendly
○If I had to choose 1 dish: spicy soup
○Would I go back? Yes
I always found Dolar Shop a little pricey but I really enjoy the experience and quality of food. Their service and friendliness is unmatched. They have a huge sauce bar and it is always well kept and the flavours are authentic. The ice cone treat always caps the meal no matter your age. Great place!
Top notch quality and service make Dolar Shop a go-to for hot pot. The seafood was fresh and their house made sauce was delicious! Highly recommend the noodles too. I found the restaurant to be clean, including the washrooms (which can't always be said for some restaurants).
The single serve hot pot set up is great because it limits the sharing, in a good way. I get my own personal pot that I can adjust with a dial.
Even the reservation process is easy to follow - type in your name and # and they text you when your table is ready. We waited less than 10mins on a Sunday evening for w people. I will definitely be back!
Awesome experience here at Dolar Shop. The interior is bright, beautiful and elegant; feels like you stepped into an establishment for some high tea except it’s hot pot. The establishment was very clean and peaceful. All the staff here were super helpful and respectful and answered any questions I had.
As expected, the prices are higher but the quality of the food, broths, and service is terrific which justifies the cost.
I was extremely blown away by the both broths that I had ordered. I have been to other hot pot places before and have ordered the tomato broth multiple times and I expected it to be very similar, however the tomato broth also has oxtail in it which add just another element that elevates the flavor. I honestly could just drink the soup all day and eat it with noodles; very impressed. But what fascinated me more was the “equisite silver soup”. This soup base was like nothing I have ever had. Not sure how to even describe the flavor but it was unique and just hit different. Both broths were great for cooking all types of meat and seafood. I ordered quite a bit of food (accident) but everything was very fresh and arrived in relatively quick fashion.
The server offered to make us the signature dipping sauce which was honestly better than the self serve that I made with myself. They had a nice self serve bar w all the different sauces one would need and had gloves for you to wear to help with the spread of COVID.
If you go during on the day of your birthday they even have some sort of prize draw. I went a day before my birthday so I didn’t get to experience that but the server did bring out a “birthday noodle” (some sort of noodle with an egg on top cooked in some broth) which was a nice gesture. Noodle wasn’t great as it was overcooked but I can’t complain when something is free.
If you want to save a few dollars, go during happy hour as it is 30% off which makes it quite “affordable” (or more affordable over regular price lol). Ice cream at the end was a nice touch to end a enjoyable meal. Highly recommend and would go again.
My out of town guests found this place on Google. We all enjoyed the food. We loved having our own choice of hot pot soup. A bonus there’s a elemnt to control the temperature. There are 5 types of broth to choose from. Our server was kind enough to let a couple of us try the broth. We both ended up having the truffle mushroom broth & even got 3 slices of truffle. We loved it. The others had the silver broth and hot & spicy broth. We all splurged and ordered the A5 Miyazaki Beef at $110 per plate! It was definitely a melt in your mouth taste that quickly melted your pocket book. Avoid the pancake with Waygu beef. Not so wowing for everyone.
They offer a bit of everything in the meat selection including meat organs. Many of the veggie choices were limited. By having individual hot pots, it’ll suit every type of eater from the vegan to the carnivore. They also offer an open bar of condiments (chilli sauce, sesame seed oil, oyster oil, garlic, etc) and had one choice of vegetable – tomatoes and one choice of fresh fruit – cantaloupe for an extra $3.99. Don’t forget to ask for the ice cream cone at the end.
The décor is very nice with great service. There are a few extra party rooms if you want to celebrate a special occasion. I was told you it’ll cost $600 for 10 people including every hot pot item. It’s not your every day run of the mill dinner place as reflected in the prices. It was a busy place not to mention that they even have happy hour.
Expensive but very delicious and high quality. The wagyu mountain is great to try at least once if you can afford it. If not, the rest of the meats remain high quality and savoury.
They take you through how it works so it’s great if you’re not familiar with hotpot. I usually make my own sauce but the house sauce was perfect. The server made the shrimp paste balls for us and constantly replenished the broths.
Unexpectedly one of the best, authentic, hotpot places around.
Was taken here by my friends to experience my first Hot Pot! The service was impeccable and I was a bit overwhelmed with how it all works but the server “Jenny” explained it all to me! They first let you choose your broth and then you just pick what you want in it! You boil your own Hot Pot right at your table! Absolutely brilliant!! I was then rewarded with the most delicious ice cream topped with a macaroon and it was FREE! Lol! Super delicious and I am now officially a master at Hot Pot! They are known to be the best and now I see why!
Fantastic service!! Everything wagyu is a must-try. There’s live seafood, from Dungeness to geoduck to lobster to even Alaskan king crab!! Complimentary ice cream at the end. I love the concept of having individual hot pot pots. 20% off your order if you dine between 2-5pm. Great experience.
